Jailbreak and unlock iPhone 3.1.3
Today the iPhone 3.1.3 update was released to iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch usres. This update includes mainly bug fixes. If you would like to jailbreak or unlock your device, you must read this. If you have an unlocked iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS do not update to this new firmware, updating to the iPhone 3.1.2 firmware will permanently update your baseband. The newer baseband does not support software unlocking.
The jailbreak has not been released yet, but you if you’ve got too much time on your hands you may be able to jailbreak if you try the following. If this works please share your results in the comments.
How to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3
1. Update to iPhone 3.1.3. After updating, find your iPhone 3.1.3 IPSW file or download it using any of the links below. Remember, don’t use Safari to download. Safari can’t download .IPSW files properly, use a different browser!
If you are having trouble downloading the iPhone 3.1.2 firmware through the iTunes Application then you can directly download the appropriate firmware for your device by downloading iPhone userbar and clicking Downloads button and then downloading the appropriate firmware:
- iPhone 3.1.3download (iPhone1,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 241 MB)
- iPhone 3G 3.1.3 download (iPhone1,2_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 242 MB)
- iPhone 3GS 3.1.3 download (iPhone2,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 306 MB)
2. Download jailbreak from iPhone toolbar (only works on Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer)
3. Follow the jailbreaking guide at the Jailbreak iPhone 3.1 post.
Unlock iPhone 3.1.3
It’s possible to unlock iPhone 3.1.3 but only if your baseband has not been updated to 05.11.07 or the newer baseband, you must create a custom firmware that uses the 04.26.08 baseband. The iPhone 3.1.3 update updates the baseband to a newer one that permanently blocks the software unlock. A guide on how to unlock iPhone 3.1.3 will be up once a jailbreak tool is released.
For now, follow downlolad iPhone toolbar and you’ll receive an alert once it’s released.

You can NOT unlock any (factory-locked) iPhone with Baseband 5.12.01 (yet). PERIOD. No downgrading or any trick will get it to go down to 5.11.07. If you need an unlocked iphone, you have two options:
a) Buy a new one.
b) Wait till new unlock is out (most likely when 4G is out, but who knows… but might be sooner, highly unlikely though).

Not true, the older iphone 3Gs can be downgraded, I had to do this with mine. There are videos on youtube that can show you how
It’s true. You cannot downgrade. About videos on youtube I saw them, and you can downgrade if you saved SHSH from your jailbroken phone BEFORE UPGRADE!!! So Itaintrite is right! if you already upgraded it with itunes and didnt save SHSH file before, there is no way to downgrade 3gs iPhone.

If ur’s iphone3g & AT&T Carrier,then sure u can unlock ur device going through ur AT&T Carrier,they will unlock ur device easy……..If ur Carrier is not AT&T Carrier then u should wait till unlock release…

I’m about to buy a new IPHONE 3G from AT&T. I’m wanting to unlock it (jailbreak?), so I can add any application whether it be from I-tunes or not. I also want to set it up as a wireless router for my laptop. I currently have an HTC PURE that I have unlocked and added a cooked ROM. Pretty interesting how all this works. I’m just wondering if I get the IPHONE, are there plenty of cooked ROMs out there for it?! Where would I go to find these ROMs and (Apple unapproved) APPS?!?!?

fuzzyband doesnt work with the newer iphone’s bootloaders moron. Not everyone can use this so dont open your trap and give people false solutions.
Only iphones with bootloader 5.08 will allow this to work people, dont listen to this fool.
A friend gave me a 3g iPhone withou the origianl sim card. I accidentally upgraded the software to 3.1.3 before jailbreaking it. Is there a way to by pass inserting a sim card to activate the phone?

You can use Pwnage tool to create a 3.1.3 custom firmware and select activate phone on the options before build.. Once you restore in itunes using this file (you have to be in dfu mode, not recovery mode – itunes always calls it recovery mode but there is a difference between the two modes, your phone will be activated.
Ok. I’ve had this question for awhile and just wanted to clear it up. Jailbreaking is Cydia Repos, unauthorized downloading, and prepping to unlock the phone, right? Unlocking is modding enabling you to choose any available wireless carrier, right? My question mainly is, can I jailbreak to get the apps? I don’t want anyone but AT&T. I have a 3GS 3.1.2., but my friend bought an Iphone 3GS stock, it already came with 3.1.3. Is there a way to just get her cydia, the apps, the jailbreak, without unlocking. Everyone keeps talking about the baseband, but does it affect software or just service (the baseband)?
yea sure, pwnage tool 3.1.5 will work, itll put cydia on your iphone with blackra1n and all that other bull. just dont activate the phone during the process.
No you are not right . Pwnage Tool 3.1.5 will work only and ONLY if you have been jail-broken before and went from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3 other than that it will never work and you will be stuck . I tried it many times and always got stuck before the end of the process . Or can you Please tell me how did you do it ???
I am using an officially unlocked iphone 3GS from Maxis in Malaysia.
It is using firmware 3.1.3 with modem firmware 05.12.01.
Can I just jailbreak it? There is no point in unlocking as the phone is officially unlocked.

Jailborke my iphone 3g by doing this:
Backup your iphone using itunes.
Down load Redsn0w 0.9.2, official 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 firmware.
Load the official 3.1.3 firmware to your iphone using the [shift]+restore in itunes.
Use Redsn0w 0.9.2 and when it asks your for your firmware direct it to the official 3.1.2 firmware. (yes, 3.1.2 FW)
what version of iTunes you used for jailbraking?some are saying version 9 itunes has a anti jailbreak?how true?every time i attempt to jailbreak i always encountered an error in the mid process of restoring..

Downgrade to 3.1.2 then jailbreak. Baseband will still stay at 5.12.01 but u will be able to jailbreak.

I bought a iPhone 3gs 16gb just a few days ago. It does have the 3.1.3 update and the modem firmware of 05.12.01. Ive come across a few websites that specfically state they can unlock the iphone 3gs with those features. But am reading here that its not possible. So my question is, are those websites fake and just trying to scam ppl? Thanks

i have inserted a german t mobile pay and go sim card that i got off ebay and itworked on the iphone v 3.1.3.it will still not jail break but i have bee assurred by a friend that it will unlock. will know later today or tomorrow.will post if i succeed.

Iphone 3g upgraded can be jailbroken using redsn0w 0.9.4 and a original 3.1.2 ipsw from redmond pie, i have done several, i havnt been able to unlock any tho

i have just bought factory unlocked iphone 3gs having BB 5.12.1 and version 3.1.3… If cydia and installous can not be used to dowload free cracked apps on this phone. then is there any other way to dowload free cracked applications.
