New iPhone 4G coming to Verizon Wireless in 2010?
According to Digitimes, OmniVision, the supplier of the 3.2 megapixel camera for the current iPhone 3G/iPhone 3GS has secured 5-megapixel camera orders for the iPhone 4G . The iPhone 4th generation will launch in the second half of 2010. It will also contain a CDMA chip that allows it to be used on the Verizon Wireless network, if the rumors are true.
Apple launches new iPhones during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). This year the WWDC conference is expected to be held during June, so that’s when we will find out whether or not there really is an iPhone 4G coming to Verizon. I’m hoping there will be one because I know a lot of people that would buy the iPhone if it came to Verizon.

why would Apple allow Verizon to have the iPhone after all the commercials by Verizon’s iPhone wannabe Droid phone, that bash the iPhone? I do not think Apple would allow that to happen. Verizon just needs to keep pushing all their other phones to keep up with AT&T’s one awesome phone.

AT&T would not “allow” anything – they don’t have a choice in the matter. Apple was stupid to launch solely with AT&T (who only has close market share to Verizon BECAUSE of the iPhone) and should have launched everywhere they could (they could have developed a phone to work on Verizon’s network).
when the contract is up, Apple would be best served to raise the price of their phone and launch everywhere. They win and Verizon continues dominance on infrastructure (equals better calls) = Verizon dominance of market. Droid may cannabilize, but as the old marketing saying goes, “it is better to have the cannibal in the family”.
the reason Apple went with Cingular, which then morphed into AT&T over verizon was for 2 reasons. 1 because they originally did go to Verizon with the idea, verizon said they would take it but only if they took off apples software and put on their own like they do with any other device they get so that they could make it the “Verizon iPhone”, Apple didnt want to do that so instead they came to Cingular who were willing to adjust their network to handle the software of the iPhone. the 2nd reason was because they wanted the iphone to start of on a GSM platform so that it could be sold throughout the world where GSM networks still reign king versus the New CDMA technology that verizon and companies like vodacom introduced
Very well explained BV…. For what ATT had to do to bring their network up to accept the over-load of iphone customers has be remarkable. I myself am a heavy network user. I know if there is one of me.. there is a million just like me. So kudos to att for keeping up. IMO

I have had at&t the iPhone and I have the droid now and the service is unreal the coverage the apps you get and 75% of them are free I have friends that have the I phone and can’t wait till there contract is over so they can come to Verizon. They don’t care if they get a droid or an iPhone if Verizon gets it. Why stay with carrier if you can’t get service Apple would make more revenue if they came to a carrier that actually has good coverage

Apple could care less about the Verizon vs AT&T battle. Imagine how many iphones Verizon would sell. That what they are focused on. The Apple AT&T contract is over this year, or at the end of this year. Once that happens, Verizon is the only place it can go. It WILL happen, I promise you.
Yeah too bad AT&T’s service reception is the worst out of all cell phone carriers!! The only reason I have not purchased an iphone is because I refuse to have AT&T as my cell phone service provider. I agree if Sprint, Verizon, or even T-Mobile offered the iphone, Apple’s revenue sales would skyrocket.

After AT&T’s contract with Apple is up later on this year, AT&T has no say at all on who Apple can sell the iPhone to. I believe Apple will allow Verizon and maybe others to carry the iPhone. Why would Apple miss out on an oppurtunity to make so much more money if they sell to AT&T and Verizon?
Why would it have to be cdma to be on verizon? verizon wireless already announced that they were going to be having gsm and 4g in 2010. so it doesnt make sense that it would be cdma.
ive been reading that 3rd or 4th quarter vzw will have some cities available for the new 4g network but i also have been reading that apple ordered hybrid chips that work with utms or some shit like that and also working with cdma aka vzw network. the vzw 4g network wasnt estimated to run fully until 2011. but its all speculation.
AT&T drops calls more than VZW. I have been in the middle of important conversations with AT&T and the phone call just dropped. With VZW, clear as a crystal. And would Apple benefit by creating a CDMA iPhone? I think so, especially if it was built for 4g. Remember the first iPhone was not 3g. Apple could have the first CDMA phone that just had the 3g technology and not necessarily 4g.
As for AT&T being cheaper than Verizon, actually they are the same price. Plans, text, data all cost the same. Only difference…..Verizon does offer insurance on smart phones. I have it on my Blackberry Tour.

I love my iPhone. My phone picks up very well. The places it doesn’t get 3g it picks up edge. I’ve seen other ppls phones with no bars in places I have full. Not saying at&t is better.. Some of the ppl I am talking about have at&t. You buy a shitty phone you get shitty service.

Wow… completely false. AT&T added 900,000 postpaid adds to Verizon Wireless’ 1.2 million for Q4 2009. The bulk of AT&T’s business is prepaid. These are public numbers that can be verified on the carrier’s sites themselves.
I love my Iphone and AT&T !!!! Verizon has Iphone envy… What happened to the LG Voyager, the Droid? I thought those were going to be Iphone killers !!! Verizon sucks man !! I guess if you really knew what you were talking about that would be great put the iPhone and droid together and look up the same apps you want to download and you find that. You have to pay for most of them with the iPhone not to much with the droid that’s sad and there is a 375.00 early termination because people will buy them for the discounted price then try to sale them on eBay for a profit get your resources straight before you start judging and if you look at both carriers there plans are identical.

Verizon doesn’t have ipone envy. It has an EnV touch, which is just like the Voyager hence the reason the Voyager is not a phone they sell in my area anymore.. I have had a phone since I was 10 and now I am 17. guess what service that was? Umm Verizon. At&t sucks so bad in a lot of places in Pennsylvania. Really, if we couldn’t pass credit check we wouldn’t have any phone plans at all..

You have no real information or facts, rather, you’re nothing more than AT&T fanboy. The iphone is a great piece of technology, but any objective person will tell you the network its forced on is terrible.
Let’s put it this way, I’ve been a Verizon customer thru four phones (8 years) and would be an iPhone user…if Apple had gone with Verizon. ATT data coverage is horrible, which is why I’m planning on hanging onto my Voyager.
My latest two yr. contract is up next month and instead of racing out to get the Droid, I’m waiting for the iPhone to come out later this yr. I’ve waited all these years, what’s a few more months?
This Iphone is staying with ATT…..You’ll will have to switch to get one!

My daughter is a regional manager for Verizon and she confirmed that Apple IS making a product that will compare to the iPhone, for Verizon Wireless. No release date has been confirmed but the product IS on the roster.
apple doesn’t release any information to there own associates so to say they are telling verizon associates is simply not correct.. they maybe working together but only the highest of IT individuals are aware of such a partnership, not someone selling the phone..

I don’s see why would Apple manufacture two phones for two companies with two chipsets when it can wait until both companies launch LTE (4g networks) and build one phone with the same chipset. Expect that in this case they would be network lock to work either in Verizon or ATT. This is a rumor that I am taking with a grain of salt. If this would ever occur and you can somehow unlock the phone like you can do most gsm or umts devices it would mean that you can take your phone from ATT to Verizon. But it remains to be seen.
apple is crazy if they dont give the iphone to verizon because verizon is ten times better and has ten times more customers then at and t. I really want the iphone i have the ipod touch and its amazing i just wish their was a interchangable battery so i could get a extended battery
I recently left verizon to get the iphone. I will say verizon is better, but ATT is a close second in the NY area. Deep down I cannot picture verizon getting the iphone. I can see it going to t-mobile first. The $350 early termination fee verizon just started really turned me off towards them which is why I finally decided to jump ship.
Our family has been with Verizonwireless for years and love their service, family share plans etc. Also, my husband’s company contracts with VZW for all their employees cell phones. We have no interest in changing wireless providers. However, we would be thrilled to be able to purchase the iphone if Apple will open up their service to the VZW market – boom! What a win for everyone. I’m patiently waiting to purchase my iphone through my VZW store!
My family has been with verizon for years. i cannot see us switching providers just for the iPhone. I am esstatic that there is the possibility for the iPhone coming to Verizon. I may just buy one whenever it comes out.
I have to honestly say, I like AT&T. I will also say that there data coverage is complete trash. I live in cleveland and the 3g data only works in or around that area. Im pleased with AT&T. I like how you can upgrade every year. My huge problem with AT&T is they have the best phone money can buy and are not upgrading the towers for a larger 3g coverage. Its great if you live in large cities. Everyone knows that AT&T has to be making a killing from iPhone, exp because they have had it since the launch. Just my two cents
