Verizon mocks the iPhone with their "i Don't" ad

Verizon I Don't iPhone Ad
During tonight's Yankee's/Angel's game, Verizon aired their "i Don't" ad that was clearly aimed at making the iPhone look bad. To be honest, Verizon made some excellent points. The iPhone is missing a lot of simple features that can be found in other phones like the Palm Pre.

  • i Don't have a real keyboard

  • i Don't run simultaneous apps

  • i Don't take night shots

  • i Don't allow open development

  • i Don't customize.

  • i Don't run widgets

  • i Don't have interchangeable batteries.

  • Everything iDon't.

Most of the things that Verizon mentioned already do exist on the iPhone, but only with a jailbreak. If you are an iPhone user you can jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 and customize just about everything on your iPhone.

Verizons just mad because they lost customers that they had because of the iPhone. They shouldn't even say that because they don't even have a phone with all those things.

I don't think this is a bad thing really who knows Maby it will pressure apple to add all those things to the iPhone it might send a messege to apple saying if we add those things it will make the iPhone an overachiver!! :-D

I can't stand real keyboards anyway, much prefer the touch screen one on the iPhone.

They are just po'ed that they turned down apple when apple offered verizon the exclusive contract and they were dumb enough to say "no".

Verizon's service is 1000 times better, I switched despite the iPhone and am much happier. No more dropped calls, and all I miss is the iPhone.... oh wait, I have an iPod touch.

just so everyone knows...

verizon was offered the iphone by apple BEFORE they went to at&t. verizon DENIED the offer.

so.... verizon is actually pissed that they are so fucking stupid. i mean seriously? regardless of what the iphone can and cant do, there are many a mac-fag (such as myself) that will buy the damn phone just BECAUSE its apple. so all around, bad moves for verizon.

plus i think its really pathetic when ANY company sells their product by attacking the most threatening competition. its weak, brainless advertising.

my family's contract with verizon is up at x-mas. guess who's getting an iphone? =]

Only shows that Verizon doesn't understand some of their bullet points are advantages. For instance ...
- i Don’t have a real keyboard: Virtual keyboards adjust depending on what you are entering so you don't have to search for special characters, are easier to read because there aren't 2 or 3 tiny characters per key, and they allow one to quickly switch between between languages.

- i Don’t run simultaneous apps: This reduces the load on the CPU allowing it to run idle and conserve the battery. If you want to see your iPhone battery drain quickly just leave Google Maps or Pandora type apps running and lock the screen.

- i Don’t take night shots: Apple should have added a LED flash.

- i Don’t allow open development: If Apple did not review every app on the App store people would be up in arms about renegade apps draining the battery, malware, spyware, and their children downloading porn apps.

- i Don’t customize: It would be nice if the phone were more customizable. Themes would be nice.

- i Don’t run widgets: This is a phone. The apps load instantly. Widgets on a small screen are worthless anyways. Phone widgets are a gimmick and never performed well on my Nokia.

- i Don’t have interchangeable batteries: This would be nice but Apple would have to give up the sleek design.

The iPhone is the best phone I have ever owned. It is simple to use and I can rapidly move between applications. Unlike my previous phones it simple works. The cut and paste is the best experience I have had on a phone.

I believe the palm and black berry were both before the Iphone, they just didn't have as good of marketing.

Of course all the Mac fan boys come running to defend their precious Apple device. Point being All phones/carriers have their plus and minuses. iHate Apple fan boys who blindly defend their iPhones or whatever else Apple makes simply because it has a label to it. Go get nestled in your cozy Ikea laced apartments and polish your Scandinavian furniture. Personally I like both the IphoneOS and the AndroidOS, my choice though is with anything Open Source, so I'm more with Android obviously. Not too mention I refuse to use the bloated POS iTunes to sync or update anything, it has got to be the most cumbersome and buggy application I've used in a long time.
