Palm Pre webOS 1.2.1 update fixes iTunes syncing

Palm has just issued a webOS 1.2.1 update for the Palm Pre. This update is 38 MB. If you’re a Palm Pre user, you can go to the Updates app, and download and install it right now. This new update fixes iTunes 9.0.1 syncing!
When Apple first released iTunes 9 during the September 9 event, they blocked the Palm Pre from syncing with iTunes. This is not the first time Apple did this either. Apple keeps blocking the Palm Pre with each and every iTunes update, but Palm has always ended up fixing the syncing in the end. It makes sense for Apple to block the Palm Pre, after all it’s a competitor to the iPhone.

I have an iPod and a Palm Pre…my daughter has an iTouch…we spend lots of money on iTunes and for Apple to do this $hit just pisses me off….like they don’t have market share?? Grow up!!!!
Well dont forget Palm isn’t affiliated with apple in anyway and they do not have any right to use iTunes at all it does suck but palm tries even though they should get their own damn software and do what blackberry does uses the music in another program and syncs it with the device instead so its not using iTunes at all but no they are too damn lazy
Why should Apple allow Palm to sync their device to software they did not develop, do not own, do maintain the servers for, and do not pay for in any way, shape, or form? Apple put quite a bit of work into the development and maintenance of the iTunes software and the servers that house the iTunes store as well as did all of the legwork and spent the money to make the deals with these media producers to be able to sell and rent the media on their servers – what part of ANY of that did PALM do? Seriously anyone who does not see that needs to grow up themselves rather than complain about Apple shutting out the Palm users.
I’m sorry but I just do not see any reason why Apple should allow Palm to basically leech off of their software… Palm either needs to develop their own music store or make a deal with Apple to purchase syncing rights.

I can see Apple upset because of the physical (phone) competition, but come on, if Palm users, and any other users at that, still use iTunes to sync their music with their phones then that just means more money for Apple in the long run. This means that these people are using iTunes to buy their music. If Apple forces them to stop using it, well, they’ll just go somewhere else to buy their music.
Apple has the right to block pres syncing & palm should work on creating their own syncing program, however i also do understand peoples frustration over multiple softwares for multiple devices…in such a case i would recommend apple to sell a syncing-license to palm & other devices intrested, solving our problem & theirs!

nooooo not really they would just download it from iTunes and either use a different application to sync or manually do it .Palm pre users tell us what you think?????
I think apple does have the right to block the pee because palm hasn’t asked for permission to sync the pre with iTunes and even if they did ask apple would probably say no it’s like if the zune were able to sync with iTunes or the iPod would sync with media player palm will eventually have to make their own program it would just be easier for future palm devices

I have a 64gb iPod touch and a palm pre, I think apple does have a right to block it but why not share the love? iTunes is the number one media player and store. And if apple is so aginst the palm syncing then why would they allow palm to introduce the new palm prixie at the 9/9/09 event? They should come up with an agreement, cause were all tired of useless updates. Same thing goes with jailbreaking, apple should allow it and make more profits off it. iTunes store, App Store, and Theme store. But if apple did do that then there would be alot of restrictions, just like with the palm pre. It would be way easier if it were possible. :(
Actually Apple makes less money if the palm pre syncs with itunes cause then more people will buy palm pre than the iphone plus i dont see why apple doesnt just sue palm pre.
It seems to me that Apple has a fiduciary responsibility to its stockholders to maximize profitability. Further, it seems that by blocking Pre owners from adding to Apple stockholders profitability, Apple may open itself to stockholder litigation.
When Apple allowed Safari to import bookmarks from Internet Explorer, did they ask permission from Microsoft? When they made QuickTime try to take over all Flash files, did they ask Adobe for permission? Why is it ok for Apple to use the very same tricks on Microsoft and Adobe, but not ok for Palm to use on Apple?
And since when do we let companies tell us where we can play the music and files we have purchased and how we can sync them? That music I have bought from Apple syncs to my Palm Pre is not Apple’s business. I bought it, I can do with it what I want.
They are wasting there time apple should just let them sync because then it will help them money wise

well there not really stopping us jailbreakers it is just the method the dev team uses such as PWNage tool what I dose it create a partition bettween the iPhone’s memory and as apple updates it deletes the partition as it shouldn’t be there all apple is preventing is from bricking your iPhone. Apple works very hard on creating their software look macs don’t get viris some people think that isn’t a big deal but it is very hard so at least apprsiate what apple does.

why would macs get viruses, nobody cares enough to make a good virus for them, all OS’es can get viruses, but why bother with the mac? bullsh*t about the secure *nix foundation, there are plenty of viruses for it.
Tbh yes apple gas full rights to do this, and just because ppl are using iTunes to sync does not mean they are using the iTunes store to buy their music, they are only using the free software provided by apple to support the apple devices…thus they are leeching off another progRamers ideas…palm needs to create their own software, and seriously…if u wanna sync ur music with iTunes, get an iPhone…
I thought palm got taken to court by USB and apple because of this? palm keeps changing their USB vendor ID and that’s illegal and they were ruled against and were told to make their own syncing software
palm needs to buy a syncing license or apple needs to sue. I’d hate to have spent so much time and have another company, a competitor at that, use MY software to help their company, with no permission.
