Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2

Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2

The iPhone 3.1.2 update that Apple released last week required users of jailbroken iPhones or iPod Touches to wait for a new jailbreak software to be released before updating. There was no jailbreak available until Geohot released his new blackra1n 1 click jailbreak software. The blackra1n software is available for both Windows and Mac users, but it only supports iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch. blackra1n does not support the iPod Touch 3rd generation 8 GB models that have a MC in the model number. Many iPhone 3G users reported having a problem with blackra1n on iPhone 3G, if you were one of them please leave a comment telling us what problems you encountered and how you solved them. I will be making a blackra1n troubleshooting guide to help users that have any problem with it. You can jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 with blackra1n, but you cannot unlock iPhone 3.1.2. To unlock iPhone 3.1.2, you must use PwnageTool 3.1.4 which the Dev-Team recently released.

If you want to just jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 I recommend you use blackra1n, but if you want to unlock then you have no choice but to use PwnageTool which only works with Mac. If you haven’t already downloaded iPhone 3.1.2 or updated, the download links for it are below.

Note: Do no’t use Safari to download iPhone 3.1.2 IPSW files, instead use another browser. Safari downloads this as a .ZIP and iTunes is not able to recognize the firmware that way.

Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 with blackra1n

1. Download blackra1n

blackra1n 3.1.2 jailbreak - make it ra1n

2. Click the make it ra1n button.

blackra1n icon - iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak

3. Your iPhone or iPod Touch will reboot once blackra1n is done doing it’s thing and you should see the blackra1n icon on there. If you don’t see the blackra1n icon, go to the last page on your iDevice and you should see it.

iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak - select applications

4. Install your preferred aplication from the blackra1n app. You have the option of choosing Cydia, Icy, or Rock. I don’t recommend you to install them all at once, because that may cause problems. Install them one at a time.

Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 with PwnageTool

iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak and unlock - Pwnage Tool 3.1.4

1. Download PwnageTool 3.1.4 (only works with Mac!)

PwnageTool for iPhone 3.1.2

2. You will be creating a custom IPSW and then restoring it through iTunes. If you don’t know how to do that, read my jailbreak iPhone 3.1 with PwnageTool post which gives step by step instructions.

I have a dilema!!! I am in Australia, purchased a supposedly australian ‘unlocked’ iphone via ebay. Updated in itunes 9 without knowledge of the 3rd party software and now its restored back to AT&T locked. I am so peeved that the person did not tell me this before updating. I have followed lots of threads & links, at the moment my phone is in Recovery Mode. Firmware is 3.1.2 7D11. I followed a link that told me to uninstall itunes 9 & reinstall 8.2 which I have done. Itunes wont let me add firmware 3.1.2 or 3.0. Prior to putting in recovery I downloaded blackra1n which allowed me to receive incoming calls on my australian sim card but thats it, iphone has locked me out. AAAHHHHRRGGG – can someone please please help me…

    Hey Quickpwn

I have an iPhone (first generation) running on 2.2.1 (yeah i know that’s old) and has been previously jailbroken.

Now I want to update to this 3.1.2 version

I followed your “3.1 with PwngeTool” but it stops at step #5 where it claims there’s no V4.6 bootloader or something (sry, i haz fail)

I did download version 3.1.2. but never installed it, is that the case? I was concerned because I knew that if I really restored my iPhone, then I wouldn’t be able to use it (it’s unlocked currently running on a T-Mobile SIM card).

I tried the blackra1n RC3 on my brand new factory unlocked 16G 3GS. The jailbreak went well, except the fact that automatic reboot never happened. After that I was able to install Cydia and other cool staff. However, after the phone was crashed by one of the applications it went to recovery mode. Nothing helped by either make it rain again or restore factory defaults. The same phenomena happened when I tried to power off/on. It seams that the latest firmware is not covered yet by the blacra1n RC3. I’ll wait for better times.

Same here. Two New Iphone 16G 3GS only 2 weeks old. Jailbroke both a few days ago. One phone is fine. The other crashed while installing a cydia app. I already forgot which app too, but anyway, after reboot the 2nd phone only wanted to be recovered on itunes. That was the only option. So I did go around in circles for awhile, finally realized that as long as no ituneshelper.exe was running, found that on a webpage somewhere, I could install blackrain and Cydia, and even some ringtones and things for his phone, however, this phone cannot install anything that needs to be rebooted or it will only go into recovery mode again. I’m baffled because I’m really not sure what I did different with each phone. On phone 1 I’ve installed cydia and had a blast installing almost everyking app that caught my interest and I’ve uninstall some too without any issues. go figure.
