Today the iPhone 3.1.2 update was released to iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch usres. This update includes mainly bug fixes. If you would like to jailbreak or unlock your device, you must read this. If you have an unlocked iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS do not update to this new firmware, updating to the iPhone 3.1.2 firmware will permanently update your baseband. The newer baseband does not support software unlocking.
The jailbreak has not been released yet, but you if you’ve got too much time on your hands you may be able to jailbreak if you try the following. If this works please share your results in the comments.
How to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2
1. Update to iPhone 3.1.2. After updating, find your iPhone 3.1.2 IPSW file or download it using any of the links below. Remember, don’t use Safari to download. Safari can’t download .IPSW files properly, use a different browser!
- iPhone 3.1.2 download (iPhone1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw, 241 MB)
- iPhone 3G 3.1.2 download (iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw, 242 MB)
- iPhone 3GS 3.1 download (iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw, 306 MB)
2. Download redsn0w.
3. Follow the jailbreaking guide at the Jailbreak iPhone 3.1 post.
Unlock iPhone 3.1.2
It’s possible to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 but only if your baseband has not been updated to 05.11.07 or the newer baseband, you must create a custom firmware that uses the 04.26.08 baseband. The iPhone 3.1.2 update updates the baseband to a newer one that permanently blocks the software unlock. A guide on how to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 will be up once a jailbreak tool is released.

Hey everyone,
I have a iPhone 3G from T-Mobile in Germany that is running 3.1.2 – and I really, really want to jalibreak it so I can use the internet tethering option.
Two quick questions:
1. Is this possible now that I’ve upgraded to 3.1.2? I’ve read other places that internet tethering is not possible after 3.1.
2. Would you suggest I use Blackrain, Pwnage, or something else? (I mostly just want to be able to enable internet tethering, but if I can unlock it as well, I’m up for it.)
3. I will still be able to access the Internet over 3G and WiFi, correct? I have unlimited data transfer right now, and dont want to fuck it up.

Dont worry nothing is going to be damaged, if you want to jailbreak it its easy for you. You have a 3.1.2 firmware iphone 3g just download Blackra1n and do what they say its really easy.
i downloaded redsn0w-win_0.8.zip and iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw but after using red snow cant recognize ipsw , can anyone help me please is there any other thing that unlock 3g iphone ?

hi,ive tried using redsnow but when i finished the iphone 3g screen is only white,i hold home and power then the iphone turns on,then the clydia symbol does not show,i restored to 3.1.2 but i got error code 1602 and my iphone goes into recovery,any suggestions?

ya wait till blackrain comes out with new jailbreak for 3.1.3. 3.1.2 is gone if youve updated to 3.1.3. you could also try snowbreeze just did it on buddys phone. good luck

If you guys upgrade to 3.1.3 firmware their is no jailbreak for it right now. That’s what i did and still waiting for 3.1.3 firmware jailbreak, stick with blackra1n to jailbreak works really good for mac users and WIndows.
i have an iphone 3GS i had at first 3.1.2 version but cracked apps didn’t wanna work even though i used Cydia in blackrain and when a friend of mind tried reinstall this version the iphone was blocked and now i can only make emergency calls!!plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz i need help!!

I used to have my iphone unlocked until i updated it to 3.1.2 firmware on itunes with my t-mobile sim in it and it reset my iphone and i had to borrow someones at&t sim card to restore it. Then i tried to dl blackra1n again on my computer I get Blackra1n to complete the process and I get the pop up saying it is complete and asks for a donations and just wait for my iphone to reboot, but i my iphone never reboots it just stays as a lit up black screen and doesn’t reboot and eventually turns off and when i turn it back on blackra1n isnt on my iPhone. does anyone know whats going wrong?

it rebooted in itunes and not in blackra1n.
now my apps won’t work,i lost most of my apps
and i kept rejailbreaking it but still won’t work.
