Today the iPhone 3.1.2 update was released to iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch usres. This update includes mainly bug fixes. If you would like to jailbreak or unlock your device, you must read this. If you have an unlocked iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS do not update to this new firmware, updating to the iPhone 3.1.2 firmware will permanently update your baseband. The newer baseband does not support software unlocking.
The jailbreak has not been released yet, but you if you’ve got too much time on your hands you may be able to jailbreak if you try the following. If this works please share your results in the comments.
How to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2
1. Update to iPhone 3.1.2. After updating, find your iPhone 3.1.2 IPSW file or download it using any of the links below. Remember, don’t use Safari to download. Safari can’t download .IPSW files properly, use a different browser!
- iPhone 3.1.2 download (iPhone1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw, 241 MB)
- iPhone 3G 3.1.2 download (iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw, 242 MB)
- iPhone 3GS 3.1 download (iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw, 306 MB)
2. Download redsn0w.
3. Follow the jailbreaking guide at the Jailbreak iPhone 3.1 post.
Unlock iPhone 3.1.2
It’s possible to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 but only if your baseband has not been updated to 05.11.07 or the newer baseband, you must create a custom firmware that uses the 04.26.08 baseband. The iPhone 3.1.2 update updates the baseband to a newer one that permanently blocks the software unlock. A guide on how to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 will be up once a jailbreak tool is released.

Ok. So I have an Iphone 3g 8gb and it was unlocked. don’t ask me with what because i bought it like that. After I upgrade it by accident to 3.1.2 version i wasn’t able to use my sim card anymore. tried to unlock it using blackra1n and co. but no luck. Being desperate I gave my phone to a friend who was going to philippines and she came with it unlocked. Any ideas on how they did it??
Ps: I live in denmark and I m not able to use it with telia but it works with Lebara or other carriers

i have an iPhone 3G 16GB, i just updated it in itunes and i was able to use any sim card, the real problem is jailbreaking your iphone, im curious if your iphone has been jailbroken also.
P.S.: i live in the philippines. ^^
Its simple, your iPhone is only unlocked temporarily and once you completely turn off you iPhone its going to get bricked or they used blacksn0w which you can download from cydia.

Go into Cydia and Manage Sources and add the repository source repo666.ultrasn0w.com ( thats a Zero in snow not the Letter “O”) and install the ultrasnow package
I used blackra1n and reboot. Then i run the app, but i cant install cydia or rock. it says please check your internet connection. but wheather i use 3G or wifi, it doesnt work
hi i ussed blackra1n and it jailbroke and i got cydia and i wanted a theme so i downloaded a theme and it said reboot system and i did and it said connect to itunes but itunes would’nt recognize it then i had to un-brick it then the same thing happened wtf!!!!! help plz

try run black ra1n again and when the message that says that your iphone is jailbroken press ok, keep the blackra1n window open and wait..
this is what happened to me and it seemed to work for me..
when u turn it on again just dont restore it jail break again.just push that make it rain
Hi danny before downloading the theme you must download winterboard and the mobile substrate which protects your springboard when it crash any way try it you will get
Relaxx this unlock is only temporary, there still coming out with a new one. This happensto every one. Try using blacksn0w, install it via cydia andthen try turning off you phone too see if it bricks.
Because blackra1n is tethered (or untethered) if your ipod or iphone need to reboot, you’ll have to use blackra1n again. Do not reset with itunes, just execute blackra1n and wait few minutes.
I used this with my iPod and it worked great! Don’t really understand alot about the rock and cydia apps yet but I’m getting there! But overalll it applied perfectly.
When u unlock with blackra1n and u have Cydia download sbsettings when u set the theme use sbsettings to respring ur phone don’t reboot u can’t let ur phone die or reboot with 3.1.2 or u will have to rejailbreak it also I’d reccomend downloading the terminal app to change ur admin password and rock becuz it’s a better download tool than cydia and for not being able to use ur sin after upgrading u may need to restore ur phone with iTunes and jailbreak it over again for it to work These answers are based on personal experiences and messing around with different options I had the same issues

hi i have an iphone 2g with 3.1.2 firmware unactivated because i updated with itunes i recently had the problem but was able to activate it when it was 2.2.1 firmware by using quickpwn but now i cant and its stuck on “connect to itunes” lockscreen and i cant get the proper carriers coz i live in dubai plz im desperate 4 help
You have to restore it using an ACTIVATED firmware.
Which is the same as any other firmware, but can be used with any other carrier.
Hiii I used blackra1n and it just got stuck on the connect to iTunes screen. I don’t get how I jailbreak it if it gets stuck on that screen. Please help!!

u got new iphone 3gs? if so its untethered which means every time you turn your iphone off and then back on you need to re-unjailbreak it. this is true with newer iphone 3gs and newer ipods. So in order to get past your connect to itunes screen you have to run blackra1n AGAIN. and anytime you turn it off (which you should try avoiding) in order to turn it back on you have to use blackra1n.

Is there any way to avoid having to reconnect it and rerun blackra1n? Its really annoying when im away and my iphone dies and i cant just charge and turn it on, i need to rerun blackra1n every time.
I was successfully unlock my iPhone, but there are two problems:
1- I dont have any antena from my operator and after some times goes to No Service
2- My wifi dont work. some times it find home wifi but cannt joint to it. I rest Network from Genral, Reset but problem is exist.

I currently have an unlocked (and jailbroken) Iphone 3g running on the 2.2 firmware. It is at the point now where many apps no longer work with the older firmware and so I need to update this, However, I see that if you have an already unlocked Iphone that you should not update to 3.1.2.
Can someone please help!

I have an iPhone 3g with 3.1.2 and firmware 05.11.07. I have downloaded blackra1n to jailbreak and it worked great. But I am leaving to Hong Kong soon and I really hope it will work as an unlock too.
I leave in 2 weeks and I really want to use it in HK with a prepaid sim.
Hey guys! Need some help here. I have a 3G iphone version 3.1.2 (7D11) and 05.11.07 firmware. I’ve downloaded Cydia (jailbroken) using pwnage and tried to unlock it using ultrasn0w on cydia. But it won’t work…tried it about 3-4 times, still no luck. Any suggestions? Now that I already have Cydia, should I try using blackrain to unlock it? Please advice.

I successfully installed the blackra1n (raindrop) app with no problem then deleted it. Now i cant get it to install at all, i’ve been trying for hours. I know i should restore my iphone 3gs and try again but every time i try, Itunes give me the error message: “..this device isnt eligible for the requested build.” so i cant restore i dont know what to do.
at this time apple try to block the server that u use to install ispw to ur device,,don’t do anything till new solution coming

the way I unlocked ,I used redsn0w 0.9.3
with iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore,only installed cydia no other fancy stuff,
Then on cydia added a source blackra1n.com,installed it and it works perfect on My 3gs os3.1 modem fw:05.11.07 boot:6.02(i installed blackra1n thru wifi no sim,cause my girlfrend needed her sim back,don’t know if it helped anything!)
wifi OK ,don’t need to re run blackra1n again after restart so far is perfect!
