Today the iPhone 3.1.2 update was released to iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch usres. This update includes mainly bug fixes. If you would like to jailbreak or unlock your device, you must read this. If you have an unlocked iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS do not update to this new firmware, updating to the iPhone 3.1.2 firmware will permanently update your baseband. The newer baseband does not support software unlocking.
The jailbreak has not been released yet, but you if you’ve got too much time on your hands you may be able to jailbreak if you try the following. If this works please share your results in the comments.
How to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2
1. Update to iPhone 3.1.2. After updating, find your iPhone 3.1.2 IPSW file or download it using any of the links below. Remember, don’t use Safari to download. Safari can’t download .IPSW files properly, use a different browser!
- iPhone 3.1.2 download (iPhone1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw, 241 MB)
- iPhone 3G 3.1.2 download (iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw, 242 MB)
- iPhone 3GS 3.1 download (iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw, 306 MB)
2. Download redsn0w.
3. Follow the jailbreaking guide at the Jailbreak iPhone 3.1 post.
Unlock iPhone 3.1.2
It’s possible to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 but only if your baseband has not been updated to 05.11.07 or the newer baseband, you must create a custom firmware that uses the 04.26.08 baseband. The iPhone 3.1.2 update updates the baseband to a newer one that permanently blocks the software unlock. A guide on how to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 will be up once a jailbreak tool is released.

How can I know the baseband of my iphone from a pc?
I´ve upgraded to 3.1.2 and did the blackrain thing but now i can only make emergency calls. Anyone can help me plz!?

louis,install cydia(1st option) and snow(3rd option) as well as snow from clicking on blackrain icon in your iphone after jailbreaking.that should fix your problem

Hi, I just bought a brand new iPhone 3G S 32GB and did Blackra1n and Blacksn0w but every time I turn it off and on again, it is in recovery mode!?! I have done the install several times now and always the same result. Is this a new protective measure by Apple??? Any advise of how to jailbreak and unlock it (Version build: 3.1.2 – 7D11, Model: MC133NF, Modem firmware 05.11.07). Any advise highly appreciated – Caroline :-)))
Yes, it’s new bootrom. There no solution by now, as soon as I know.

you have to again use blackrain after each restart to return to proper functions also if ur having nay issues with wifi or network reset all settings and restart again – again of course running balckrain once more to exit recovery mode, I had all these same issues and this fixed them all :-)
with your iphone pluged into the computer, just run the blackrain exe. again. It should boot right up.
Just have to rerun blackra1n cuz it’s tethered
i am facing the same problem like u. my 3G 3.1.2 has no problem on 3gs has this problem.
i have the same problem with my 3gs 32gb, i did the blackrain several times and still didnt work, but it did work with 3gs 16gb same same version and firmware… so i guess its just the 3GS 32gb that gives the problems, but hopefully the guy that did black rain will resolve the problem…
wow. that was almost seemingly too easy. i loved the simplicity of it. and, it worked faster than anything ive ever seen. i have the original ipod touch so ive been at this awhile. i had to check the directions twice to make sure that it was really done. blackrain kicks butt!

got the the stage of having the blackra1n installed to phone, dont have WIFI to connect, and said error could not contact host! So uninstalled blackra1n and now have to restore phone again and start form start. Fuck Apple, would not piss on any of there products or software.

My iphone 3gs 16gb got unlocked then when i turned it off it went into boot mode, i then put it on blackra1n and it went back to normal, now i tried doing it again and it doesnt work,i even get the guys picture in my iphone then in the middle of it goes back to the apple logo then it shows me the itunes and usb picture, any solutions please? im trying to jailbreak with blackrain , when i click make it rain it shows the connect to i tune s then the screen goes black , any sugges.
press wake up/switch of/on button 10 seconds and pressing sleep button at same time 10 second until you see apple logo appear

hiya i have tried every unlock known so far on a iphone 3g running 3.1.2 firmware 05.11.07 and it wont unlock. its a new phone purchased just after new year its had more restores than me computer in that time and is driving me mad. now i can live with no picture messages for the time being as i want it on t-mobile uk. i know this is possible as me older phone unlocked first time and is on all networks. what am i doing wrong??? any help gladly received

OK, I click on the blackra1n icon and the only installs that come up are Cydia and Rock. I am only interested in sn0w since I am wanting to use the iphone with other carriers. Can anyone tell me why sn0w isn’t listed?
Can anyone help me? I bought my iphone 3g from ebay and it was jailboken and i didnt know. I deleted all of its memory without backing it up. I then tried to use my sim card but it was asking for the original sim card to i tried unlocking it and used blackrain. Now i can d/l cydia or anything cuase it has no wi-fi. I dont know what to do. someone give me advice.
