iPhone 3.1.2 download links

iPhone 3.1.2 download links

Today Apple released the iPhone 3.1.2 update for iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch users. Some users are having difficulty downloading the update through iTunes. If you’re one of these users, you can download the iPhone 3.1.2 firmware directly using the links below. Just download and then restore through iTunes

Remember, if you have a jailbreak or unlock you will loose it right now.

Note: Don’t use Safari to download iPhone 3.1.2 IPSW files, instead use another browser. Safari downloads this as a .ZIP and iTunes is not able to recognize the firmware that way.

The iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak has not been released yet.

I downloaded the file and changed the .zip to .ipsw and it didn’t work. it says the device isn’t eligible for the requested build. what do I do?

you need to join the files together. you can use hjsplit or hjsplitter(i forget)

Also, people should avoid using Internet Explorer to download it too. It tries to save it as a .ZIP format.

Google chrome seems to work ok.

Why has no one mentioned I-Tunes?
Tha fastest and easiest way to update Your I-Phone is to download and set up I-tunes on Your PC. With I-Tunes open, just plug in Your I-Phone and it automatically asks if You want to update.

no one mentions iTunes because they’ve already had problems downloading it on there, or are given a newer update that doesnt allow easy unlocking so they searched the Internet and found this page dummy! We dont want the iTunes update, or we may want it but iTunes wont let us have it. Dont ask dumb questions.

Guys I have downloaded this with google chrome and it is only 1 file. it is named: iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw

Now when I try to restore or update with Shift + Click it will say that it will not do it because ” the device isn’t eligible for the requested build” :S

I mean it is only 1 file which it has to be so I do not need to rejoin it with anything and it should work right ?

Tell me if I am doing something wrong. Current phone: iPhone 3GS 32GB Black running 3.1.3

    Thanks for your attention,

The Apple server is blocking the install. You need to trick iTunes into thinking the install is authorized.

On a Mac, go to /etc/hosts.
On a PC, go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts.
Open the file in a text editor (Administrator for Windows Vista/7) and add the following entry at the bottom of the file: 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
Save the file, close the editor, verify that the change was written by reopening the file, close again and THEN try to install.

Just wanted to say that i updated the host file and this did work. I’m on Vista and although i am an adminstrator on my account, i had to open word pad as an administrator (right click when opening word pad) to save the addition to the host file.

next time itunes allowed 3.1.2 to install without the error message.

Robert Jackson – thanks for this.
