Almost a month ago, Apple released the iPhone 3.1 update. Today Apple has released the iPhone 3.1.2 update for iPhone and iPod Touch users. This update does not really add anything new, but it does fix important bugs so iPhone and iPod Touch users should update.

The iPhone 3.1.2 software update includes the following:

  • Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep
  • Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart
  • Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming

How to update to iPhone 3.1.2

1. Connect your iPhone or iPod Touch to your PC.

2. Launch the iTunes application and click the Check for updates button.

3. iTunes will show you the above window saying: “iTunes will update your iPhone to iPhone 3.1.2 software and will verify the update with Apple“. Click on the Update button.

iPhone 3.1.2 Download Links

If you are having trouble downloading the iPhone 3.1.2 firmware through the iTunes Application then you can directly download the appropriate firmware for your device using the below links:

Note: Don’t use Safari to download iPhone 3.1.2 IPSW files, instead use another browser. Safari downloads this as a .ZIP and iTunes is not able to recognize the firmware that way.

iPhone 3.1.2 Jailbreaking information

You can jailbreak your iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, or iPod Touch on iPhone 3.1.2. I will update this post once an iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak is out.

Connect the Iphone and open I tunes. If phone is in recovery mode, hold both buttons for 10 secs and then release the power button.

Device should pop up in I tunes.

Before clicking restore hold the shift button on the keyboard. A window should open. Go to where you saved file and then restore. I’m no expert but i hope this helps.

my iphone lose the network automaticaly .. and i cant fix that.. can anyone tell me what to do , to fix this problem , plzz

    • Fredo says:

I believe you can simply restore your network settings.

      Go to Settings/General/Reset/Reset Network Setting.

You will not loose any apps but will have to re-enter passwords for Wi-Fi Networks previously saved.

      Hope this helps.

What happens to you guys who accidentally upgrade is that you click check for updates in your iTunes and you leave the phone plugged in. If you do upgrade this way “always, always, always, always” unplug your phone form the computer when starting the upgrade download and don’t plug it in until you restart iTunes. This will prevent accidental upgrades as iTunes will do it automatically this way. It happened to me once, thank god someone came out with an unlock for that firmware version I upgraded too. From now on I am using Custom IPSW upgrades.

  13. Hi Everyone,

I backed up my iPhone 3G on my WinXP PC approx 3 days ago, because I was worried that my Categories app might crash things somehow.

Then my Categories app crashed things somehow. I’m not able to see the contents of any of those folders.

It looks like I’m going to have to restore, but I don’t know whether I ought to upgrade and Blackra1n again, or if I can restore without upgrading from 3.1.2, or what. I’m a little confused, and I feel like I could do something terribly unnecessary if I don’t ask someone — so here I am.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
