Motorola Droid phone

Verizon will be announcing details of the Motorola Droid on October 28, but Motorola already jumped the gun and accidentally posted and then removed information on their Droid by Motorola website. I knew Motorola would do something like this, so I  saved the pictures, and specs to my hard drive. Read on for more information on the Motorola Droid phone. I told you in my Droid does Flash post that it supports Flash, and Motorola has confirmed it on their specs page. Motorola hasn’t posted any release date, but their website says that Flash is coming in 2010.

6 hours and 41 minutes battery life? Are they kidding us?

  2. Nymphilis says:

This thing is absolutly hideous…a physical keyboard, what is this…the beginning of smartphone generation?? This phone is going to flop for two reasons, just like the blackberry storm did, it’s verizons attempt to close out the iPhone, and this whole JavaScript with being able to use flash, hey news flash everyone, flash support is going to be down in a couple of years because apple is starting to not support it, noticed safari not supporting flash…anyways this phone is nothing compaired to the iPhone, or even that of windows mobile phones…googles os is horrible…*gag*

  3. Crack it says:

Like the guy below me said that phone is ugly they need a bit more shine and gloss Crome edges and lose the square look I mean it look really bad I have had cheaper phones that look better than that then I got the iPhone with it’s sleek look it is just missing a few major updates or major jailbreaking I’m going to jailbreak mine today this droid has convinced me that jailbreaking is very important I used to it when I had free time but now I’m going to do it as a mojor item on my list

  4. Crack it says:

Sorry like the guy above me

  5. jon says:

Fanboys I see. Having had all iPhone models (all jailbroken ) and now to Android, still have what I was missing on iPhone. Come on flash support, try multi tasking, I could go on. Yes the yes there can be some improvments with the os, it is on its way. Anyway the moto is ugly.

  6. Jake says:

Crack it, you are pretty stupid. There’s no chrome on it, it is a highlight, i.e. white light reflecting off the black surface. You are a looser, like the guy above you.

  7. Nymphilis says:

I love how ppl disliked my first comment…fanboy or not, I would rather have the Nokia brick then that ugly wanna be slide smartphone…moto come on what are u thinking…big whoop apple has reasons for why they left out things…and again…android is a crap system…rather use a unix system…android…googles attempt…maybe in the future, it will take off

  8. Crack it says:

Thanks for giving your opion but you don’t need to dis me cuz I got sence of style unlike u and u don’t need to go rampaging dissin others so if you r going to that just crawl in the hole u came out of K Jake ??

  9. Karl says:

What? This phone is amazing. Those specs are out of control. I’m preordering this thing. Flash?!?!?! It’s about time. Expandable memory?!?! Sorry iPhone. You finally have competition.

  10. Nymphilis says:

Karl you need to understand, that isn’t expandable memory, it is your memory!! Ur internal hdd is about the size of a moto razr, so really it’s no different then syncing an iPhone thru a data cable, also, flash…5mp camera? Really I barely use my camera on my iPhone as is, especially during the night, that’s why I have a $500 cannon rebel slr camera(yay flash digital photography, including video)with a nice lol wireless sd card…yay for iPhone which is compatible with peer to peer connections…anyways…enjoy your crap moto, my motos always crapped out on me, again physical keyboards are fail

  11. That One Guy says:

Seriously. There is no phone that will EVER be an iPhone killer. The Pre tried it, the TMobile G1 tried it, but nothing will ever replace the awesomeness and the potential of the iPhone. They’ve got the best system out there, and if you jailbreak it, it just gets that much better. There is no way that this phone will be as good as the iPhone. NEVER.

But unlike all yous guys that have AT&T, I have Verizon and I have a really sweet deal and my plan is cheap. So, yes, I will probably get this phone in a year or two when I renew my contract, and yes, I will still keep my old phone, in case this thing is a piece of junk.

But whatever the case, it’s better than the phone I have now, and I’m already on Verizon and have no reason anytime soon to switch over to AT&T and pay 100 bucks a month for two years. I pay about 25 bucks a month. So unless the iPhone comes out to Verizon in the next two years (which is extremely doubtful because Verizon just slammed Apple in their iDon’t campaign) I will be getting this phone.

  12. SiR Mez says:

You iDont fanboys are funny. (In a nagging voice) I don’t like it, it looks square. It need to have chrome. I want it to look like an iDevice. Why would you want that?? If it did look anything like the iDevice the conversation in here would be different. It looks like the iClone I don’t want it.. blah, blah. People saying they have a sense of style because they have chrome on their phone is halarious. If this isn’t the iDont killer then it will be close. Then there will be another Android to take its place. If you guys are happy with a phone that has looked the same for years and then Crapple makes you buy another phone just to get video recording fine, have fun go all out. Android brings it all.

  13. Crack it says:

I don’t mean I has to look like the iPhone but I mean it looks like the first moterela cell phone ALL BLOCKY just make it look decent….

  14. joe says:

    1) Does it support teathering?

    2) Will Verizon allow the GPS to be accessed by 3rd party apps?

  15. Will says:

What a lot of people here fail to realize is the fact that this is the first phone like this put out by Verizon. People switched to AT&T simply due to the iPhone. Their (AT&T) coverage, network, pricing, and support all fall short of Verizon. These are facts, not just something made up. I personally use Verizon. I have been looking into switching to AT&T simply for the iPhone. There is no plus side to going to AT&T except the phone. With the release of the Droid a lot of people (myself included) have put off switching to AT&T. This is how they will kill the iPhone. By simply providing their current customer base with a device that does a lot of what the iPhone offers and then some. I don’t foresee many more people leaving Verizon and going to AT&T for the iPhone. I do foresee people leaving AT&T for Verizon’s superior service, cheaper prices, and better product support with a product comparable if not better than the iPhone.

  16. NetFu says:

There is no way anybody can say whether this is even a realistic competitor to the iPhone based on the paper specs. The iPhone’s success is not and never has been because of its specs. It always has been because of the user experience: the hardware, the software, and the add-on’s. Go use an iPhone at an Apple store, really USE IT, then tell me you ever want to use another phone or PDA again. Every single person, myself included, who has ever looked at the iPhone and actually used it has said that’s what they want in a phone/PDA. And I’m not a fanboy, I’m a serious corporate IT person who didn’t buy an iPhone or take it seriously for more than 6 months after it was released. WHEN you can actually use a Droid phone, only then will you or any serious reviewer be able to say whether it’s any good or lives up to the promises. On paper the Droid is just a netbook with a built in phone and GPS — the promises aren’t that good. I’ve never seen a single netbook, including the ones I use for my work, that could come close to replacing an iPhone.

  17. Bigmacbook1300 says:

To all of the douters of the Iphone you realy need to see the bigger picture their will never be another phone in it’s place.
The iPhone is great but when you jailbreak it it just craps on all other phones out their.
Realy who needs flash or a keyboard the whole idea is touch, just a screen and no other bs to deal with
hands down the iPhone kills all other smart phones on the market peer to peer conection gaming the app store come on get real out their
and if you don’t like AT&T unlock it to tmobile ding bats.
Realy if you want a camera buy a Sony webbie
and for all you dim wads if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
not to mention the iPhone is the sexyest phone to date and by the way apple rules the digital world as we know it.

  18. Chow yun fat says:

2 words (roll over) and umm so how is the pricing cheaper with verizon those fuckers charge extra for everything if your gonna say something about this please do your homework my bill is cheap as hell I have a family plan and I have 2 iPhone’s with unlimited text and I pay $126 a month I’ve seen these so called cheap verizon plans

  19. Tenou says:

I like it just the way it is. I don’t think it needs more gloss nor shine. I am a fan of the matted look and I don’t like the finger print marks left behind on glossier devices. (I’ve got an Eee netbook that I obsessively clean due to the glossiness of it). I appreciate the features this phone has without the need to hack it. I understand the iphone can do its thing… but thats after its been jail broken. Out the box, this bad boy is pretty damn cool without me having to mod it.
I will admit, maybe this isn’t the iPhone killer. But that isn’t because it isn’t comparable in specs its because Apple does a much better job at marketing their products.
Iphone fanboys, at least be open minded, this phone is hot.
