"Important Update: From a translated version of Google's Korean Blog we have learned that this is just most likely the first of a series of doogles that Google will be using to provide clues to a puzzle. The puzzle mystery is to find out:

Who or what are these doodles actually celebrating?

The next Google logo doodle clue (say that 5 times fast) is expected to be shown on September 15, 2009. The text below is a translation using the Google Translate service.

So in human translated English, this is what we get from that:

Today's celebration logo is related to the "unexplained phenomenon". There will be two more logos in a series. (next is the 15th). Who is the logo celebrating for? Here is a hint keywords. 'Mystery', 'Invisible', 'Novel'. Can you guess? This is pretty hard, but after you know, you will say, "Aha!" :-) "

Given that Google was incorporated on September 4th, it would make sense that Google's servers would be online for their first full day on September 5. The O being displaced to the right gives the appearance of the words Go ogle (Go search with interested attention). the fact that it links to unexplained phenomenon and shows a UFO could be a statement from the company which in full would state "Go search with interested attention into the unknown" on September 5th because the servers are now up.

maybe aliens like cheerios and spaghetti-o's? i dont think the Exeter festival is a big enough deal for google to put a doodle for it...and you would think that they would promote it more if they were tied together. And all this buzz about it frankly is making my hangover headache hurt even worse..lol. Im sure its some sort of marketing ploy... dont really wanna get my hopes up thinking google has definitive proof of ufo's or other unexplained phenomenon.

The search is "unexplained phenomenon" therefore Google does not need to explain what the logo is about when you hover over it. :D

So what research justifies your conclusion? Google Doodles are always explained when you hover over the logo or click on it. If Google were celebrating the Exeter UFO Festival then why not link to it?? Yes, keep searching Watson! The truth is out there... ;-)
