Gmail Down: 502 Server Error
Yes, right now Gmail is down and has a 502 server error message when you try to access it. We’re not sure what the problem is, but this is not the first
time Gmail has gone down.
Many people on Twitter seem to be upset about this, especially since they can’t access any of their mails at this moment. If you’re affected by this Gmail downtime, we want to know! Had a college document, business work, or anything that you were trying to access right now? Leave a comment!
What to do while Gmail is down
Don’t panic! Just wait. Knowing Google, I know that they are working around the clock to fix this problem. They have lots of users and they will fix the problem ASAP. I’ll update here once Gmail is back up.
Update: Gmail is back up. Good job Google!

Well, this hasn’t caused anything drastic for me yet, but it is F-ing annoying. It’s been broken like this for hours. I can understand something like this maybe breaking for 15-30 minutes at the most, but hours? Really, Google? Outsourcing hosting to India or something? This isn’t the first time either. Seems like maybe they need to take a look at what they’re doing because there are gonna be a TON of pissed off people, and rightfully so. Sure, it’s free, but it is ad supported and billed as very stable, etc.
Can’t get in gmail! Help 911
Yes, I am experiencing the same, unable to access gmail for the past few minutes. Is that just optimism that they will get things back to norm?
I m trying to access my some important emails but its been down since more that 1 hour
You can access gmail via igoogle http://www.google.com/ig/gmailmax, you need to log in first.
Now it works ;)
HEY, WE ARE IN TEXAS & OPUR GMAIL HAS BEEN DOWN ABOUT 2 1/2 HOURS—–HELP NEED TO WORK! HOPE THEY GET IT FIXED.
I’ve been using Gmail all day today, and quite heavily. I noticed the server error, Googled the error (quite ironically) and realised it was worldwide, and not just at my end. I used IMAP (on my iphone) to continue to access my mail, and logged into my Yahoo account (with all my mail backed up for the last year and a half (sent directly from my Gmail account as a precaution) and by the time I had posted a Twitter update, read what Google had to say about the problem, they had already fixed it! I didn’t worry for a second, and because I don’t take their uptime for granted I had no reason to panic.
If you use email for business, then it’s time to use Gmails handy features to backup, and forward, and access your mail using POP, or IMAP from other mail clients, just in case… cos you just never know….
Should I have written this in a blog or what!? … ha ha ha.
Well I’m not gonna copy and paste it now, it’s staying in the comment!
