iTunes 9.0: Blu-ray support, iPhone Apps management, and social networking

One of Boy Genius Report’s  “reliable source” has given them details on iTunes 9. According to the reliable source, iTunes 9 will include the following itunes-9features:

  1. Blu-ray support
  2. Apps management - You will be able to visually manage your apps and rearrange them in iTunes 9.0
  3. Social Networking – Integration with Twitter, Facebook, and Last.fm
  4. Permanent bricking of jailbroken iPhones – If you jailbreak your iPhone, iPhone 3G, or iPhone 3GS it will be permanently bricked.

Of course, this is just a rumor and nothing has been confirmed. The only feature I would use in this list is the iPhone apps management feature. It would be nice to be able to rearrange my icons from my computer instead of manually doing it. There is no iTunes 9 release date, but it is expected to launch in September when the new iPod Touch third generation will be announced.

So is it going to be permanently bricked… And if not.. Y even say that?… Even if it’s crossed out

  3. David says:

How would iTunes even detect that a device is jailbroken? And the app management sounds like the only useful feature.

    What?

  5. Kurt says:

Omg don’t scare me like that! “permanent bricking of jailbroken iPhones” but how could iTunes even tell if you were jailbreak??

  6. Slinky says:

What do you mean “how could iTunes tell”? It interfaces with your phone. You give it rights to see every file and setting on the phone. They wrote the software, they know what a 3.0 install should be.

I’m sure Apple already knows which phones are jailbroken. I don’t think it would be legal to brick them, it’s your device.

    lol that scared me

  8. bubbeman says:

Way, way overdue for apps management.

  9. Sciizerg says:

Are they serious about the permanent bricking? That scared me a little

  10. Joe says:

They are probably gonna make a software that will brick your phone and they will just do it without warning and they will probably put it on every version of iTunes

  11. Vitaliy says:

Haha. Seriously. Jailbreaking is not illegal. Bricking iPhones for being jailbroken is illegal. What you are doing is modifying the filesystem so you have access to it and installing unauthorized, but not illegal apps. Apple could get their ass sued if they bricked someones iPhone.

  12. maan-27 says:

Guys……its a JOKE! itunes cant detect if your iphone is jailbroken or not! If that was possible, apple would have taken that precaution a long time ago…..even if apple does implement it, our hacker-hood community will have a counter in no time…..just relax and dont hype up!

  13. Jeff says:

They won’t brick it ppl! It would only get them in trouble and give them less sales because of people saying that their iPhone was bricked without jailbreak etc.

If I don’t upgrade iTunes to 9 .? Il be safe na

  15. Asgar says:

Dev team will crack iTunes 9,,!!!

  16. God says:

    this is bullshit

  17. Eric says:

Lol worried me there for a bit. But apple couldn’t do that unless they had sufficient proof you had something illegal on your itouch/iPhone.
I wonder what FB will do…

  18. Joe says:

Apple could brick someones iPhone it is legal And they could arrest anyone with a jailbroken iPhone for for unathorized material on it and apple could brick someones phone even if it’s not jailbroken they would brick every iPhone so nobody will jailbreak it and iTunes can detect a jailbroken iPhone I was updating mine yesterday and it said it couldn’t because of corrupted material

  19. Joe says:

Vitaliy you must be stupid it is illegal to acess a secured file system and putting unauthorized material
