iPod Touch 3rd Generation?
Other | Hans | August 15, 2009 at 9:53 pmA blog posting on Covino and Rich has caused a lot of buzz around the blogosphere. Originally it started with some pictures which the blogger claims are pictures of the iPod Touch 3rd generation.
The person who posted the pictures claimed that it was a picture of the iPod Touch 3rd generation with a camera in it. To back up what he said he also posted a picture of the motherboard and showed that it said Apple 2009 on it. The iPod Touch 2nd generation has 2008 on it and Apple hasn’t revised it.
Engadget ruled this as a fake, claiming it was a photoshop, but later retracted what they said when Covino and Rich decided posted an actual video.
Do you think this is the real iPod Touch third generation, or just a well-planned fake? We’ll be finding out soon enough in September.

This is fake fake fake, apple doesn’t just make prototypes and then throw them away what is the point in that. Has any one ever heard of any one getting their hands on an ipod before release before? Probably not, thats because they are smart and know what they are doing. Apple did not order 2 mp cameras they ordered 3 and 5, the back case on this ipod is an aftermarket replacement I have a few myself, he did this so he didn’t ruin the real case for the Iphone 3gs that he used to make this modification. Notice that in the video he never shows the camera actually being used nor the Ipod being powered on. Thats because anyone cand tell the difference between the springboard on the Ipod and on the Iphone. This is a good fake but a fake none the less. I have 2 2nd gen ipods and one was destroyed by a scented oil burner so I removed the backing on it and it also sas Apple 2009 its because the circuit board was made after Jan 1 2009 thats all. So nice try good fake.

no youre the dumb ass. theres no way apple would produce something and be like “oh nevermind, i like jims idea better. so lets take these 400 produce prototypes and give them to the public…sorry bill” no. anything you could possibly see would be a personal modification. the date on a motherboard will change every year as for them to renew the patent and lets face it, patent ANY and ALL updates. you know updates happen to ipods. that counts as a change and therefore a new patent and therefore a new fucking copyright therefore ANEW FUCKING YEAR ON THE MOTHERBOARD. so shut the hell up and think a little bit. dumb ass

Apple ordered several 2 and 3 Megapixel cameras not 5 Megapixel ones… Where would they use 5 Megapixel Cameras? The next iPhone maybe but probably not
Also the sas your saying about Apple 2009 is wrong… Just because it was maufactured after Jan 1 2009 doesn’t mean they renamed the circuit boards. Plus have you even opened a iPod touch (manufactured in 2009)? They haven’t changed it yet
Why don’t you just wait… and if they are aftermarket casing show me a link…

i can prove that bj guy is wrong the inside is not a 3gs because the date is in a different place and a smaller chip in the 3gs and this seems to follow the itouch design and not an iphone. Also it only takes one idiot’s mistake to break a secret.
Fake: no apple symbol on the back and the camera is off-center in the camera hole
it only looks off center because it’s being viewed from an angle, not straight on. Come on people just wait, this IS real and you’ll find out for sure on the 8th. or 9th. or something like that.
I’ve got a feeling this is fake too, but I wanna buy the 2g ipod touch and just before going down to the store, i came across websites (including this). It really made me confused, to get the 2ndG or wait?
well… it does look as if it’s been done on photoshop… no question about that, by the way , the board is smaller than that of the itouch 2g, how could this be if they were claiming to “double the RAM”??
besides, did you look at the mic next to the camera? how could they be adding a mic to the ipod without talking about it?

dude cameras today are so cheap it would be stupid not to put a camera on an ipod touch, it is after all “the funniest ipod yet” I think the 3rd gen itouches will have cameras both for pictures and video, better wifi, the iphone 3gs cpu and gpu or better , wold not be the first time an ipod had better specs then the almighty iphone, and for the first time because apple signed that european agreement removable back and battery at least in europe any way,so I see no reason why the ipods couldn’t have colored backs, but not many people give a crap about the back, except maybe spoiled retarded 14 yold girls that want everything in pink.oh yeah that european agreement also talks about mini usb charging and syncing, but I personally think its silly to bealive that apple is going to replace their thing specially since a lot of developers,partners, made a lot of crap using that old thing so maybe it will have a mini usb port next one currently on the iphones and ipods.

The fact that there is no substantial change in the case design is more realistic, especially since we’re about three weeks away from the probable product launch, there are leaks of cases that corroborate the camera lens location shown in these snaps, and the fact that there are no other “leaks” showing a vastly different case design. There weren’t many changes in the case design between the iPhone 3G and 3GS, so this would seemingly follow the same pattern.
my friends uncle got the new itouch.the itouch got a camera and microphone on th bottom..he works for apple so yea….he said is coming at the end off this month
ok luis what you say is not true because why would anyone in there right mind put a camera at the bottom of the back and plus he might work for apple but i highly doubt that he got one before it has even came out my reson for saying that is my dad goes all around making every apple store there is and knows everything about apple so how would he not be able to get one before it comes out its all a load of bull so before you think i am just hating on that haterade haha im not just telling you the facts okay

The reason there is no front plate is because they want to surprise us with colors and it is real becase it is

I’ve waited all these months to get the itouch. I waited for this day to come for the new itouch and what I get is a price cut only. WHAT!?! Are you freaking joking us apple. The nano got everything and the touch nothing. BIG disappointment.

hey people. the itouch 3rd generation did get something…however small it may be, it pushed me to get one, the 3rd generation comes with longer video battery life on the 32 and 64gb devices. 20, and 40 hours video.
