Apple Bans iPhone Developer
App Store, iPhone | Hans | August 3, 2009 at 7:57 pmOver the course of 9 months, Khalid Shaikh and his team of 26 employees have submitted over 900 applications to the App Store. That is a very huge
amount of apps from one company. Unfortunately none of these 900 applications were of good quality. Shaikh and his dev team didn’t care about the quality of the apps, they just cared about making as much money as possible. Instead of pricing their apps as 99 cents each, Shaikh priced them $4.99 each. Mobile Crunch estimates that he earned thousands of dollars per day from sales until he got banned.
On Friday, July 24 Apple revoked Sheikh’s developer license and removed all his apps from the App Store. It’s not because of the quality of apps that Shaikh got banned, but it’s because he had copyright issues with a lot of applications. Apple did the right thing by banning him. Imagine if Apple had to check through each and every app for copyright issues, that would really slow down the approval of apps.
Unfortunately Shaikh is not the only iPhone Developer who is flooding the App Store with cheap quality apps. Brighthouse Labs, the company with the most iPhone apps in the App Store has over 2,000 apps for 99 cents and seems to have copyright issues just like Shaikh did. Their apps are still up in the App Store and judging by the reviews of some apps it doesn’t look like people like them.
What do you think about Shaikh getting banned? Do you think he deserved it? Have you come across other iPhone developers doing the same thing? Leave a comment.

Well if he’s got copyright issues he should go, and as for te guy that commented above no need for racism, ppl like you create torrorist!
Dude please translate to us what is a “torrorist”, we never saw one yet.
HEY DONT TALK MY BROTHA! TALIBAN FOR LIFE!!
I don’t think he should have got banned. He should do what ever he wants
LEARN HOW TO SPELL OR TURN YOUR COMPUTER OFF!
That said, Apple should have some better quality control over their App store. There’s a ton of garbage on there that’s taking sales away from good apps.
3rd!
That’s kinda racist how they deleted there apps and banned them, yet another company (an american one most likely) has heaps of apps, and not exactly the best ones , and also have copyright issues, but have had squat done to them.
I don’t know whY his apps are so j can’t say if the quality stinks or not
It takes 26 employees to write crappy apps? He’d have to sell a lot just to break even.
They did the right thing. God Bless America and no one else
*cough*playmesh*cough*. Cheap apps, same thing with different pictures, out to take all the money they can, poor quality crap that somehow gets in the top 25 almost every time. Who agrees?
Apple did the wrong thing in banning the developer. Some comments here could exactly reflect the mentality of Apple.
Of course they should be banned; people complain about the app store being corrupt… Well, sorry– it’s APPLE’S business. They can do quality control as much as they please. We jailbreak knowing that companies won’t like it. They have a business to run!
Haha #1
Booooooo i want more dj apps
It would be appreciated if the racist comments were taken down.
Fail @ all of you for giving a damn to fight woth each other. Just shut up. And as for the ban, who cares? Doesn’t hardly change anything other than a few less apps to bitch about. Also if copyright is a problem then why are there 10-15 apps that are the exact same from several different developers? How many people are gonna make a crappy app of a white screen and call it a flashlight saying everyone else’s isn’t the original? Exactly.
First thing is that Quality comes first when we are talking about Apple apps. But putting a Ban on a developer for this simple reason that he had outnumbered apps in a certain amount of time with no quality is Outrageous. This is not fair. Its understood that Its all about the money these days but whats wrong if someone who is developing apps like this. We have other Developers too making bully application, they have never been banned or commented. This is Not fair. Apple and this Developer need to sit together and sort out the matter in a sensible manner. I am pretty sure they can have some kind of negotioation. Dont be that rude ‘Apple’ Please !! Give him a chance. Thankyou .
The “Call ________” guy has got to go, too
Maybe it doesn’t matter if he should have or not….it could have been in the developer agreement terms….and copyright infringement is never something to smile on in my opinion…..if it takes 26 employees an still no unique idea….that’s sad
