iPhone 3.0.1 Jailbreak stuck on “Waiting for Reboot”

Other | Doug | July 31, 2009 at 9:50 pm

After looking through the comments on the iPhone 3.0.1 jailbreak and unlock post, it looks like many people appear to be having a problem where the redsn0w program is stuck on the “Waiting for Reboot” screen.

Here is a fix for this:

  • Unplug your USB quickly and then plug it back in. Your iPhone will reboot and the jailbreaking process will continue.

Thanks to dococ for the tip!

Which version of redsn0w did you guys use? I had the same issue with an iPhone 3G running 3.0.1 and redsn0w 0.8.

Solution is keep it in DFU mode, cancel redsn0w 0.8, open redsn0w 0.72 and go through the process, no need to go in DFU mode again.

It should work then. Any questions just hit me up.

Well i have followed all the steps but still after finishing my iphone start with the initial un-recognize sim condition :S. What do you mean by quickly unpluging, at what stage should i do it?

I tried everything above and in the comments to get past this “waiting to reboot” problem, and none of it worked…

Then i upgraded iTunes to version 8.2.1 (it was version 7 before) so that it would be iphone-compatible…

    And it’s just finished jailbreaking!!

blackra1n rocks, redsn0w sucks. when i tried to use redsn0w, and i tried it like 50 times or something, it always got stuck on the reboot part. but i only tried like twice using blackra1n, it worked on the second time. download blackra1n directly from the creator website (http://www.blackra1n.com/).

oh yeah, i might have found a solution to the getting stuck on reboot part of jailbreaking, have itunes running whenever u r bout to jailbreak. tell me if it works for u guys.

Can someone tell me how many minute does it need for reboot & how long i have to wait !? coz it is not working for me even when i plug out_in :(

    Unplug iPhone from the cable.

Then just press both power and home button until u see the apple logo.

That should “wake” it out of the dark screen more.

I tried to jailbreak my new iphone 3gs 3.1.2 yesterday with blackra1n but when the image of geohot disappeared the phone went black and dead. I restored it and tried again but with no fortune. Someone having the same problem or knows how to fix it?

I have iPhone 3gs on 3.1.3 firmware. I recently jailbroke using blackrain and it worked up to the point of installing cydia, then crashed. I have restored phone back to normal and retried the process. Once I have run blackrain again it says jailbroken phone, wait for reboot and the phone stays with a blackscreen and nothing. When I unplug the USB it just goes back to normal and not jailbroken???? Please can anybody help, I have spent
hours and it’s driving me mad!!!!! Please
