iPhone 3.0.1 Jailbreak stuck on “Waiting for Reboot”

After looking through the comments on the iPhone 3.0.1 jailbreak and unlock post, it looks like many people appear to be having a problem where the redsn0w program is stuck on the “Waiting for Reboot” screen.

Here is a fix for this:

  • Unplug your USB quickly and then plug it back in. Your iPhone will reboot and the jailbreaking process will continue.

Thanks to dococ for the tip!

After 2 weeks that I had the same problem with my 3GS. I found the solution:

when you need to locate your device’s IPSW file, MAKE SURE YOU PICK THIS ISPW: 1_3.0_7A341_Restore and NOT 2_3.0_7A341_Restore although this is the one for the 3GS. After I pick 1_3.0_7A341 the Jailbreak worked perfectly !
*. After you choose the right ISPW follow the program instruction and you will be done in less then 3 minutes…

    Good Luck !

After uploading the second stage. it says and stuck in “waiting for reboot” .. please anyone help me ……..

  9. fix says:

If you get stuck at the rebooting stage, and unplugging and reconnecting doesn’t work – hold your home button and power button and wait for your iPhone to start up as normal, and then just close redsn0w and try it again. The stage you restart at hasn’t done anything yet and so there’s no possibilities of it bricking your phone.

    Enjoy!

    YAY!
    FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM ..

IF YOUR GETTING STUCK AT THE “REBOOTING SCREEN” …
MAKE SURE YOU DONT HAVE A SIM CARD IN YOUR PHONE AND THAT THE SIM TRAY IS NOT IN YOUR PHONE

AFTER THAT TRY AGAIN IT SHOULD WORK PERFECTLY!

Ok so it is absolutely critical that you have the correct firmware. iPhone2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

Note: It is easy to miss the fact that the 3G is 1,2 and the 3GS is 2,1

I struggled with the reboot thing for hours until I saw in a post that minor (major) distinction.

Worked perfectly once I got the correct firmware.

I have tried this on 2 different phones about 30 times and it will not go through no matter what. Haven’t tried it without the SIM so I’ll give that a shot. But the unplug thing hasn’t worked. Was using redsn0w 8. Is that one still having problems. I am trying my best to find the redsn0w 72 so i can try that but I can’t find that one now. Any ideas or comments?

tried to unplugging, and replugging, and it didnt work. no matter how many times i tried. i used one of friend’s computers and it worked without a hitch. might wanna give it a try if anyone is having problems

  18. perry says:

you have to use the correct firmware in order to get past the waiting to reboot, so if you have an i pod you have to use the ipod firmware and not the iphone

For everyone having problems with “Waiting for Reboot”:
I just tried for the last 2 or 3 hours to try to Jailbreak my 1G iPod touch. When I thought all else was lost, I tried one last thing and plugged the ipod straight into my computer instead of into my 4 way USB port I had been using and it worked. If anyone is using a 3rd party USB port, try plugging the USB cable directly into your computer

I just can’t get this to work…. spent the whole day trying. Have followed every bit of advice in the various forums. Still stops at “waiting to reboot” – I have an iPhone 2G, with 3.0.1
