you will need to follow the below steps to keep it.
How to Jailbreak iPhone 3.0.1
1. After updating to iPhone 3.0.1 download and install iPhone 3.0 firmware.
Download iPhone firmware 3.0 (filename: iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw)
Download iPhone 3G firmware 3.0 (filename: iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw)
Download iPhone 3GS firmware 3.0 (filename: iPhone2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw )
2. Download redsn0w.
3. Follow the guide at the Jailbreak iPhone 3.0.1 post. When you select the firmware, choose the 3.0 firmware instead of the 3.0.1 firmware. This is safe and it works!
Update: If your iPhone 3GS is stuck on “Waiting for reboot” unplug your USB cable and plug it back in.
Unlock iPhone 3.0.1
1. Follow the steps above to jailbreak your iPhone.
2. Once your iPhone is jailbroken, open Cydia.
3. Add repo666.ultrasn0w.com to your sources
4. Install ultrasn0w, and reboot!
5. Now your iPhone should be unlocked.

It stoped on Waiting for reboot mesage and it doesnt help when i unplug usb and plug it back ….what to do??
you probably have the wrong firmware, i was using 1.1 instead of 1.2 (1.2 if for a sil=mple 3g iphone) as soon as i chose the correct firmware all worked fine
thats easy wait for the battery to die and plug it into itouns and it will be fine or hold the home and pawer for about 20 sec or untill the screan goes black.

I have a big problem!! I have an 3g 8gb iPhone .. that I am trying to unlock.
I Jailbrak it FINE! Everything is fine with the jailbreak, but after that when I press on the Cydia icon .. it just returns me to my desktop .. so it is not working (I cannot open cydia so that I fine the repo666… and add it as a source)!!
I tried adding it to “icy” … and it worked but then I do not know the exact name of the app that I need to install …
Help pls .. (either here or via email)
You shall just connect yout iPhone to your PC again, and let iTunes do the sync, or maybe don’t.. Doesn’t mather.. Just connect it, and let microsoft sync, then afterwards there are properply no problems.. Use to wokr for me.. Happens often – Sometimes it also changes the icon when after it has been connected to iTunes.. Wierd i know..
just download blackra1n after that on yr iphone you’ll have a black rain drop open it then install cydia rock and snow easy
This happend becouse you got icy you had to get cydia only
I downloaded iPhone firmware 3.0 (filename: iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw) and this is a zip file.
After unzipping it, I do not see a restore file or a .ipsw file in the contents of the zip.
Can someone tell me where can I find the iPhone firmware 3.0 for a 2G iPhone?
just rename the file from – iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.zip to iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw)
now go to redsnow & locate the file
Dont unzip it only change its name .zip to .ipsw. It is gonna work.
Have done it but my cydia is not working in order to unlock it. as soon as am clicking sources it dissapears and am again back on my home screen… any help about this??? have already done it thrice
I have installed firmware 3.0.1 and jailbreak my iphone 3G but still cannot unlock using ultrasnow. My bootloader version is 5.0.9 and Modem firmware 5.11.07 and also cannot downgrade using fuzyband. Any other alternative?

i have a iphone 2g 16gb and when i do all the stuff it says downloading jailbreak data but then after that it goes back to the emergency call screen what 2 do?

I’m really stuck. I have an original iPhone 3g 16gb. It was jailbroken and unlocked to version (2.something) don’t remember now.
I then downloaded (redsn0w-mac_0.8) and (iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw)
Then ran redsn0w and now it’s stuck. On the screen is a usb with an arrow pointing to the itunes logo.
Can anyone help me?

i had problems using it on vista 64 bit. connected it to xp computer ran instantly. on vista it kept prematuring saying “DONE” and i was so frusterated bc i was doing everything right. fyi

So i followed ur instructions for this and when i use the firmware given on the begining of the tut on iTunes it goes quite well until iTnues is checking firware status, goes through restoring and so on, and then i get this?

What do i do next? My phone was jailbroken before just fine, and i tried using 3.0 firmware to be able to unlock and now i can even get passed the first step.

Worked absolutely fine with my 2G. ;-) but after two attempts.
I had a slight miss, which is not well mentioned in the workinstruction.
It is the moment you upgrade the IPSW (with iTunes shift key process) to the latest 3.0 version THEN WAIT for your iPhone to restart. It will restart by itself, be patient!!
Then, it will start complaining about SIM not supported etc..
And ONLY THEN execute the Redsn0w process steps.

I have an iphone 3Gs, I recently had it unlocked (3 days ago) because I am moving to Italy, I am in italy right now and after charging my phone now it is stuck on the screen with the itunes symbol, and the usb cord. If i restore my phone in itunes, will this lock my phone back up?!
