iPhone 3GS boosts mobile uploads to YouTube up 400%!

The YouTube blog is reporting that in the last six months they have seen uploads to YouTube from mobile phones jump up to 1700%. With the launch of the iPhone 3GS, mobile uploads to YouTube have increased by 400% each day! The iPhone 3GS is the first iPhone with the ability to record videos (without needing to jailbreak).

I have to say that I'm impressed by the iPhone 3GS video recording quality! Do a quick search for "iphone 3gs upload" on YouTube, and you'll notice that a lot of these videos are test videos and many people are just getting started with it! Considering that it's very simple to upload videos to YouTube from the iPhone 3GS I'm pretty sure that the iPhone 3GS video uploads on YouTube will increase a lot more over the coming months.

Videos uploaded by the iPhone 3GS show the following image on YouTube:

Notice how the image only says iPhone, but not iPhone 3GS? Apple may add video recording support for the iPhone 3G as well. If this were to happen it would heavily increase mobile video uploads from iPhone 3G users! In the meantime, if you're an iPhone 3G user and you want the ability to record videos I highly recommend you jailbreak your iPhone 3G and download the Cycorder app from Cydia.
