The DevTeam has released yellowsn0w, the world’s first iPhone 3G unlock. You must upgrade to the latest baseband 02.28 in order to use it. It is possible to use it with the older baseband on firmware 02.27 but the DevTeam has exclusively restricted it to work with the newest baseband. So if you haven’t already, upgrade to firmware 2.2 with the 02.28 baseband! Did you unlock your iPhone 3G? Post back your results here and let everyone know of the experience. Hello,
I unlocked and jailbroke my iphone but when the phone finishes booting up it gives me a message saying “different sim detected please connect to itunes” and i can only use the phone in emergency mode where i can make and receive calls. I tried it using the a T-mobile sim. I cannot get into my apps or anything.

everything work just fine but not the 3G data if i can call it like that…
so i have EDGE but no 3G speed…
somebody told me i have to put something in the console… some commands…
now how i can open that console and what should i type there?
is very frustrating knowing i upgrade my old iphone to the new 3G iphone… and is not working….

Here is a strange situation.After unlock,3g iphone only works in the city I where I did the unlock.If I travel to another city,Iphone looses carrier.Tried other sim cards(vodacom) did not work.
When I return back to mt city,phone then gets carrier signal back (South Africa MTN).Has did happen to anybody

I i have 3g iphone from Vodafone Egypt, and had it jailbroken with the latest firmwares, and gone throgh all the steps for yellowsn0w and all the workarounds mentioned above, but still when i connect via 3G it gives me an error message ” Cannot activate cellular data network, you are not subscribed to a cellular data service” , although when i use the sim card with any other phone i connect via 3G normally. pleeeeeeeeeease help
hi just try putting in your vodafone settings in the apn section of your iphone under settings>general>network>celluar data network>apn

i have my fon upgraded to 2.2 before i had it jailbroken using quickpawn. I used to have turbo sim. but have been encountering lost network signal. so i have it unlocked. my contact used yellow snow. Its been over weeks now and i am enjoying my unlocked jailbroken fon with no problem.

DevTeam, first of all great job! Small (and crazy problem):
- Moved to the UK from the US with blocked AT&T card.
- My AT&T picked up all networks and data (roaming).
- Unblocked it (worked great!) – using o2 PayNG sim
- Went to the US – used AT&T card – worked great
- Came back to the UK – still AT&T card – worked great but all of a sudden no service
- Tried o2 card – no service
- THE KICKER – tried TMN sim card (roaming portuguese card) – picked up T-mobile and data with no issues!
- Moved back to the o2 and AT&T – nothing.
Trying to solve the problem:
- Removed 0.9.5
- My AT&T started picking up edge (roaming – no idea which provider) but no service
- Installed 0.9.6
Here is how i stand:
- AT&T card – No service, but i get edge (not sure which provider)
- TMN card – perfect T-mobile service, edge and 3g (roaaming everything)
- o2 card (WHAT I REALLY NEED) – nothing… absolutely nothing…
Ideas???

jailbreak is different from unlock. to use your iphone to other network u must have it unlocked. to download using other programs aside from itunes have it jailbroken.

2.2.1 has a newer baseband version, so once updated you cannot use yellowsn0w
