Official Jailbreak for Windows/MAC

The iPhone Dev Team has just released the official jailbreak for MAC users.

Before you update here are some important things you should read first.

1.  iPhone 3G users:  If you want to unlock your iPhone 3G, do not upgrade to firmware 2.2.1 through iTunes, you must use a custom firmware through PwnageTool (only available to MAC users).

2. Firmware 2.2.1 permanently upgrades the iPhone 3G’s baseband to 02.30.03 and yellowsn0w unlock will not work with this baseband (so you won’t have an unlock if you upgrade your baseband).  You must make a custom firmware with baseband 02.28 using PwnageTool.

3.  If you’re using MAC 105.6 you won’t be able to get into DFU Mode but here is how you can do this:

  1. You will need an account with ADC (Apple Developer Connection) this is free and takes a few minutes to sign up, you should read the terms and conditions carefully and you should only sign up if you are thinking of developing applications in the future – http://developer.apple.com/mac/
  2. Download the disk image “IOUSBFamily Log release for Mac OS X 10.5.5 Build 9F33” (yes, that is a “5” in 10.5.5 – this is a developer debug package of the USB kernel extension).
  3. Install IOUSBFamily-315.4.1.pkg from within the disk image
  4. Reboot your system!

iPhone 3G locked users

If you don’t ever want to unlock your iPhone 3G then just update to firmware 2.2.1 through iTunes and jailbreak.

iPhone 2G users

Just update to firmware 2.2.1 through iTunes and  jailbreak.

iPod Touch 1G users

Update to firmware 2.2.1 through iTunes and run QuickPWN to jailbreak.

iPod Touch 2G users

There is no jailbreak available yet, the iPhone Dev Team is working on redsn0w.

    I tried out redsn0w and it didn’t work out as I planned. It’s much more complicated then I expected. Do you guys have a release date or something for when iPod 2nd Gen QuickPWN will be released? Thanks for your help,

    I’m having the same problem as Adam. When i jailbreak my ipod touch 2.2.1 it wont start up it just stays at the start screen and occasionally retarts but still stays at the start screen

    I have tried for hours now, and the message: “QuickPNW is about to run on your iPhone” is still showing. What should I do? I follow the steps, as they are described. My iPhone is NOT unlocked, but the only question I’m asked before starting to turn my device off is the question about the screen when you’re turning your iPhone on

    Every time I download QuickPwn 2.2.5 v2 or the unofficial QuickPwn 2.2.1 and then try to exstract and run it. It gives me an error message! Why?

    Hi! I’ve jailbreaked my iphone 3G a year ago to FW2.0.2 … i want to jailbreak it to 2.2.1 firmware without effecting my apps i downloaded?
    can i also unlock the 2.2.1 firmware with yellows0w?

    should i also do this:

      You can backup your App Store Apps apps in iTunes, and if you want to keep your jailbroken apps you can also download AptBackup from Cydia and backup those too before updating to firmware 2.2.1. You must use a custom firmware file otherwise upgrading to firmware 2.2.1 will upgrade your baseband and your iPhone 3G will be permanently locked. Follow these steps:

      1. Download custom firmware 2.2.1 file from here.
      2. Launch iTunes, shift-click restore and select this firmware file.
      3. Once you have restored to this firmware you can download yellowsn0w from Cydia to unlock your iPhone 3G.

      If you are stuck on any part please join the forums and ask your question there to get help.

    I can’t believe this! iPod 1G 8GB Firmware 2.2.1, none of the QuickPWN software works, I do the process succesfully, I get all the normal stuff on my iPod were you can see it installing, but then my iPod never restarts, I waited for 2 hours and all my iPod does is flicker every so often, can you help me out, I really want my iPod 2.2.1 Jailbroken. I have succesfully restored back to fresh!

    hi i have a new 3g phone it came unlocked from a jt wave in the channel island but they got it from the czech republic. it up dated itself to 2.2.1 and now i cant get ant sort of carrier with any sim card. i have try every think and it still dont work. iv used quickpwn and has not change a thing so if there is any 1 who can help please. my email is micth363@gmail.com

      Once you’re upgraded to 2.2.1 (without a custom firmware) you are permanently stuck with a locked 3G iPhone.

    Master.. I need your help.. My problem is like “mitch” i have a new iphone 3G that i have bought from at&t. i want to change my carrier.. i have tried to use quickpwn 2.2.5.1 and its work.. but just work to appearing cydia, and installer… but when i insert my new simcard.. my iphone can not receive the signal (can not detect the diffrent simcard) what must i do?

    Ever since this upgrade every time i wake my phone i get this error saying his “would you like to turn on airplane mode….”
    any ideas ive tryed restoring the phone, etc.

    dears,
    i’ve just got a new Iphone 3G 8Go,

    then when trying to sunchronize via itunes, the message ” No valid sim Card ” on your iphone,
    and on the phone its mentionned ” emergency call only ”

    well at that time i’ve tried QuickPWN 221 to unlock it, but there is an other issue, is that an error message saying ” The correct IPSW willhave a name begining with Iphone1,2_2.2.1 ” where myne is “Iphone1,2_2.2.1_5h11_restore ”

    can some one advice please?

    should i use newer version of Quickpwn? knowing that i have no acces to my terminal for update or restore old version “unles there is a tricks”
