so you have to get the 2.2 b4 getting the quickpwn? cuz im downloading the 2.2, but i havent installed it on my iphone, and i tried quickpwn 2.2, but it didnt work. so you probably have to instawll 2.2 firmware then use quickpwn.

2.IMPORTANT! DO NOT upgrade with itunes WITHOUT jailbreaking the ipsw file FIRST as 2.2 UPDATES the baseband and you WILL LOOSE the ability to jailbreak 2.2 ( or downgrade to 1.1 then jailbreak)

f you are using your iPhone with one carrier and have no interest in the possibility of an iPhone 3G unlock in the near future then just restore or upgrade to 2.2 using iTunes and use QuickPwn to Jailbreak and add Cydia and Installer.
Upgraded to 2.2 through itunes then used quickpwn and it works like a charm. Good job fellas!
what i understand, if your phone was jail brok before 2.2 release you can use most recent quickpwn to ulock updated 2.2 firmware of your phone...if your phone NEVER being jailbroke before and now you updated to firmware 2.2 via iTunes, when you run recent quickpwn you get stuck at the point were you went to restore mode, nothing happening...

Installed this without error but the iPhone is still showing as running v2.1.
For those with "dead" ipods and iphones, sell them to me CHEAP :D Just kidding!
Keep trying the restore, eventually it'll take. I was in the same boat. This seems to happen when certain mods are enabled, after the update the mods continually crash the device as it's booting.
My suggestion, REMOVE OR DISABLE ALL MODS BEFORE UPDATING. Themes don't seem to affect anything, just actual code modifications (i.e. the mod for a 5-icon dock, etc).

cuz i updated it 2.2 using itunes, and fuck it up, had to downgrade to 2.1, i was able to fix it and now im in the process of downgrading the baseband since i get the No Service msg...
can i go ahead and go back to 2.2 and not having to go thru the pain and worries of downgrading baseband or anything else and use my phone? thankz

I ran the 2.2 update through iTunes, and then QuickPwned my 2G iPhone. I am not getting service, tho. Activation went fine, and it syncs with my computer, but I cannot get a cell signal. I am running a jailbroken iPhone (PwnageTool/QuickPwn) on Mac OS x 10.5.5. Any ideas?

Did you make sure that when you were at the screen with the icons, that you have them selected the Cydia and the Installer . . . that might be why you don't see them

Here is the guide for all those touch 1 gen people who have a jail broken 2,1 FW.
1. Download quickpwn
2. update Itunes to 8.0.2
3. Remember all the stuff you installed from cydia and installer, because you cannot save them unfortunately.
4. update your FW via apple update, all your music, cracked programs/games will be still there (except anything from cydia and installer)
5. same process as 2.1, run quickpwn and follow instructions.
6. after the reboot, open itunes and allow it to sync.
7. I do believe mobile patch 2.1 will still work.
8. Enjoy 2.2 that has basically no point..

what you need to do now is to open itunes and plug in your USB to ur device, and keep on retrying.
OR
if that doesnt work, force ur device into recovery mode (google it-manual recovery mode), while in itunes, then shut it down (device), boot again, should work.

I've got a big problem I can't seem to get around. I have a iphone 2g that was already unlocked and jailbroken on 2.1. I downloaded the 2.2 update from apple and ran the update. After that was done I opened quickpwn and ran the unlock again. When it was done the phone went through its usual configurations and then restarted. Only when it came back it all of a sudden wanted a passcode. The phone didn't have one set before but after the unlock process now it wants one. I've taken a few random stabs at it with no luck and of course the counter just increases the lock out time with each failed attempt. I've put the phone into recovery mode but itunes fails during the recovery, and I've tried to run the quickpwn again but it doesn't think I have the right version on the iphone now. Not sure what to do at this point. Any help would be great! Thanks.

updated my iphone to 2.2 when apple released on the 21st. I use quickpwn for windows, every thing said success on until after my iphone said that its rebooting and cleaning up. It started rebooting like mormal. nut never came out. its in a continual boot..... dosent work, iphone 2g stuck in reboot mode. Quickpwn 2.2 still needs alot of work

maybe its the unlock thats making it not work on the iphone 2g. imma just try jailbreaking it without unlocking it. or maybe i downloaded the wrong bootloader to unlock it. EVEN THOUGH THE SOFTWARE TOLD ME EVERYTHING WAS SUCCESSFUL!!!!

Having lots of trouble with pwned 2.1 3G iPhone. After QuickPwn processes succesfully the iPhone reboots (bitten pineapple logo included), but Cydia not showing!! Where is it?? Phone works normally, but I NEED my jailbroken apps back!! What can I do??

After an apparently successful quickpwn 2.2, my iphone 3G is also stuck in a boot loop. I was able to run quickpwn on it again but afterwards it's still doing the same thing.
Im in a stuck at logo, just keeps rebooting. Will do a restore to see what happens. No complaints though just part of process to have the things welcomed with a jb iphone. Dev team thanks for the work you guys put in its appreciated

Anyone having a problem with Wireless since jailbreak? Jailbreak 2.2 worked great but since then my device will connect to my wireless network but wot pickup an IP address. Keeps giving me an APIPA (169.xxx.xxx.xxx) address. I have confirmed that my wireless network is fine and my DHCP server is fine. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!
After upgrading to fw2.2 and applying quickpwn 2.2 to my jailbroken 2.1 I see no cydia or any other jailbroken apps. Looks like restoring my settings/music/videos from iTunes eliminates Cydia from springboard!! what can I do??
Well I've just confirmed that it wasn't the jailbreak that caused it. Restored to factory and have the same issue. Ugh. not sure whats causing it. No changes on my network.

just restored using 2.1 jb, allowing itunes to wipe and fresh restore. Fresh restore completed, updated to 2.2 in itunes, then did the 2.2 qwk pwn. Good to go.
All of this was done w/o my sim in , when i put it in no signal for just a second or two then I have signal and tmo network.

Thats exactly what caused my continual reboot. Seems to work for some though. Im a 1 gen iphone so who knows.

i have a 1g ipod touch, updated from 2.1 to 2.2 trough itunes, run quickpwn, completed succesfully... but now there is no cydia/installer on my springboard!! im sure that i checked it in quickpwn..... and i only have the appstore apps icons which were NOT IN CATEGORIES FOLDERS when i updated!!! when i sync through itunes it says all my appstore apps are still installed, but there are only the icons i did not store in categories folders! ssh does not work...... when i use iphonebrowser/diskaid, there are no appstore .app files in the ~/applications folder, but in the ~/var/mobile/applications folder everything seems correct ---- ITS AN PROBLEM WITH CATEGORIES;DONT UPDATE/JAILBREAK WITH CATEGORIES FOLDERS INSTALLED!!!!---- please help me

SWWWEEEETTTT!!! Just rejailbroke my 3G works fine but no installer(???) I never used it anyway..but it works just fine. You have to have the new 2.2 Firmware and dl the new QuickPwn to support 2.2 software..I love jailbreak!!!

My upgrade (previously jailbroke 2.1 3G iPhone) on Windows Vista.
1. Removed all items from Categories. Then removed all folders. This will put all icons back instead of being hidden.
2. Upgraded iTunes to 8.0.2
3. Downloaded iphone1,1_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw placing in Quickpwn directory.
3. Allow iTunes to upgrade my previously jailbroke 3G to 2.2 firmware.
4. Run Quickpwn 22-1 in Vista. Following all directions.
5. Opened Cydia (reorganized iphone)
6. Reinstalled ->Categories, BossPrefs, Cycorder, Cylay, WinterBoard, Searcher, and OpenSSH.
Voila.... I LUV IT.

If you want a new mobileinstallation patch, go to cydia, add the source xsellize.com/cydia
Search for IPAPrep 2 and dl it. Install one non-cracked app first then everything should work fine.

i haven't done anything with my iphone 2g, which is on jailbreak/unlock 2.1. is it safe to go ahead, do i need to unlock it again using bootloaders?
Sweet 2.2 Jailbrake Works Find With Ipod Touch 1st Generation!
So here's my problem. I have JB before, and figured I'd update to the new firmware and JB this one. But after JBing The Cydia icon does not show up, the installer shows but Cydia is nowhere to be found. I re jailbroke it 3 times slecting just the Cydia installer as well as restoring the iPhone and repeating the process with quickpwn. Any ideas whats going wrong?
I have used quickpwn before and had no problems so this I don't know whats going on!

Just wanted to say that I was able to jailbreak my iPhone 2G without a problem! I simple updated the firmware to 2.2 via iTunes, then ran QuickPwn 2.2 and it did the rest! Much streamlined that with the 2.1 procedures. Very quick and to the point! OUTSTANDING JOB, GUYS!

If you have been having problems trying to jailbreak your iPhone with QuickPwn 2.2, it's simply because you are an IDIOT. Please find a neighbor that is not an IDIOT and have him/her do it for you. Im starting to think this program only works for 12 year old virgins whos balls havent dropped.
QwickPwn keeps closing itself down when I get to the screen that performs the update.
You know when it puts the iPhone into recovery mode, and then press home for 5 seconds etc...
Anyway around this???
I just upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2 and used quick pwn. and it jailbroke my phone. I do not have cydia or installer on my dock. I believe this problem is related to...When I had 2.1 jailbroken I downloaded categories and put cydia and installer in a folder and then when i upgraded to 2.2 and jailbroke it. i think somehow the phone thinks they are still supposed to be in those folders. Any help on fixing this would be amazing. Thanks

Wow, guys. I know not everyone is a technologically inclined but some of these questions are dumb. If you have jailbroken your 2G before you already know how to do it. If you have a 3G and want to preserve your baseband download pwnage tool. If you are planing on sticking with AT&T update on iTunes and then quickPWN.

If Cydia and installer are not showing up try going to Settings/General/Restrictions once there enable restrictions and enter passcode. Hit the home button. go back to Settings/General/Restrictions and disable restrictions.

For anyone who got stuck after upgrading and GBing. I had the same problem. I reran quickpwn 3 times in a row. Every time, it said update was complete. But the phone got stuck @ the apple logo.
I tried in the 4th time, to remove the cable after it updated, when the phone started rebooting. It still got stuck on the logo. But when I connected again to the PC and waited for about 2 minutes, itunes identified it and the phone showed the start screen.
Lucky me. It is working fine now.

it finally worked for me after about 10 times, dont select the pineapple logo it'll load just fine on 1st generation iphone. Now i just need to fine out how to unlock it. even though i downloaded the boot loaders. when i tried putting another sim, it recognized it as being another sim and wouldnt work. I have a 3g Iphone 2.1 jailbreaked and universal sim unlocked. If i upgraded to 2.2 and jailbreaked 2.2 will it affect the universal sim baseband? Will I be able to use it on different service provider than AT&T?

GUYS THE IPHONE DEV TEAM HAS SPECIFICALLY STATED THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE A WORKING JAILBREAK FOR IPOD TOUCH 2G (SECOND GENERATION). THE TOUCH 2G USES A WHOLE NEW CHIPSET, THEREFOR IT WILL TAKE TIME TO PRACTICALLY HACK THE DEVICE COMPARED TO OTHER DEVICES IN WHICH THEY HAVE PREVIOUSLY HACKED. DO NOT USE ON 2G IPOD TOUCH.

i think after you jailbreak your 2.2, you can't install any soft from Appstore or Update any soft from AppStore.. Can some one confirm ? Becouse i can't now update any soft.

now i cant see cydia and installer at all

Clearly there is a problem with the program that was not addresed in the new 2.2, people get stuck in a constant loop at putting ipod into recovery mode. Dev team will not comment on it and know 1 has a proper soloution. If your so smart give your soloution to this problem!

OK guys, this is for window users. There seems to be some people using quickpwn being stuck on the jailbreaking process that prevents them from um.. jailbreaking. The part I'm referring too is the step where Quickpwn puts your Ipod in recovery mode and it does so, but the step where you gotta hold the home button for 5 sec doesn't initiate. Well I do believe I got something.
First off I did 2 things and 1 might not be necessary so here it goes...
Microsoft's Services: Start > Run > type services.msc and start the following services.
There was some services I had off. They were Terminal, Fast User Switching and one of the Remote Procedure Calls (forgot which one was off). I started those services and then rebooted (actually I didn't reboot but might be better for you) and magically QuickPwn successfully pwn my Ipod. Yeah! Woot! Wii ha! So the step that was stubborn to start, happened! Thats it.
Oh but prior to that, I tried downloading the .DotNet Framework 3.5 to see if it would trigger the jailbreaking events to no avail. So this step might not be required or it could be a combination of .DotNet Framework 3.5 (and its updates) and turning on the aforementioned services. Good Luck.
Also gotta mention that I used the official QuickPwn from the Iphone Dev team, if it matters (shouldn't). Some say using a different computer worked for them which I would think its good but what bout the ones with no other resources? Try my tips.
After 5 agonizing days of reading and testing the many versions out there. Not to mention 3 different usb cables and all the USB ports. I almost teared it worked. Let me know if this works for you.

i think i have a big problem with my iphone 3g i upgraded to the new 2.2 and the quickpwn 2.2 so that i can jailbreak! i followed the steps as i was suppose to and a message popped up on my screen and said something wasnt installed the right way, so i checked my phone homepage for cydia and the istaller and they were both there, but nothing popped up. so i tried to reinstalled the quickpwn 2.2 and it installed the right way. but after that i tried jailbreaking again and all the steps did well until i got to the recovery mode step it didnt do it, it was on that step for aver a hour. i even tried to restore my iphone still stuck in recovery mode for a hour. CAN I PLESE GET SOME HELP ANYBODY PLEASE JAILBREAKING IS THE BEST THINK THAT HAPPEN TO ME! RECOVERY MODE NEVER TOOK THIS LONG BEFORE PLEAZ HELP....

While upgrading my jailbroken phone in itunes from 2.1 to 2.2 I'm getting error 14 I tried it on my mac and also on my laptop with windows vista Help MY PHONE IS LOCKED
I did all the steps, and bootneuter tells me, that the Phone is unlocked.
However: If I fit in the T-Mobile SIM it is still locked.
I just bought the phone which was never jailbroker or unlocked.
Can it be, that Quickpwm doesn´t work/unlock a virgin 2.2 iPhone 1G anymore?

One key is to have iTunes 8.02. You can upgrade your iPhone to 2.2 with iTunes 8.01, but QuickPwn doesn't seem to recognize that it's been upgraded.
I did everything as I was supposed to, but it kept giving me a "can only work on devices >=2.0" popup/error.
Upgraded to iTunes 8.02, restored iPhone to 2.2 and was able to QuickPwn!
