Apple recently released firmware 2.2 for the iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 1st Gen, and iPod Touch 2nd Gen. The Dev Team is hard at work and they plan on releasing a jailbreak for firmware 2.2. As of right now the jailbreak iPhone 2.2 has now been released. If you’re using a jailbroken iPod Touch or iPhone then I highly recommend upgrading. It’s really worth the upgrade because of all the new features it has. There is still no copy and paste!

1. Can I jailbreak iPhone 2.2/iPod Touch 2.2 with QuickPWN or PwnageTool?
Not yet, the DevTeam is working hard on a jailbreak right now.
2. Can I jailbreak iPod Touch 2nd Gen on 2.2 firmware?
Unfortunately not because the iPhone is the DevTeam’s main focus right now.
3. Can I unlock the iPhone 3G 2.2 firmware?
No, so don’t upgrade to 2.2 if you want to unlock your iPhone 3G. There is no iPhone 3G 2.2 jailbreak and the DevTeam advises you not to update if you want an unlocked iPhone 3G. The DevTeam will be releasing an iPhone 3G 2.1 unlock jailbreak once it’s out.

I want to make sure there aren’t more angry users like me. So if u have 2.1 jailbreak’d iphone remember the follow.
- Do not update to 2.2 via itunes.
- After update via itunes 2.2, then jailbreak’n 2.2 won’t give u phone service.
*Correct way:
- Jail break from 2.1 via qpwn to 2.2
- This is the only way to use your iphone with 2.2 f/w functions.
** If u feel difficult to update to 2.2 without baseband, just don’t !!!
*** I hope the dev team could find a way around for the itunes 2.2 updated people who r stuck with no service.

do i have to jail break my i touch 2.2v first before i use quickpwn
So, after i see all the comments from above mentioned after jailbreak their iphone 3G ver 2.2 they have the “no service” issue.
And also one of my friend who owns a iphone 3G also have the similar problem “no service” when upgrade his iphone 3G from ver 2.1 (jailbroken) to ver 2.2 (jailbroken) via. windows mode.
Conclusion : Do not upgrade your version 2.1 (jailbroken) to version 2.2 right ? Or you can upgrade it without using itunes to version 2.2 and only my upgrading from version 2.1(jailbroken) to version 2.2(jailbroken) via quickpwn ?
Has anyone tried the ANY-NETWORK V3 Sim Card yet? It’s suppose to be able to work with v2.2 on the iphone 3g, if so…post any comments!

Ok, i accidently bricked my iphone 3G and need to do factory restore. So, automatically it updated to version 2.2 and i jailbreak it all is done and working except for one. “NO SERVICE” come out and i cannot use my sim card or any other sim card. I use turbo-sim during version 2.1.
Tomorrow i am going to get a new turbo-sim that the sales person told me that it could work with version 2.2 for Iphone 3G. After i get it, i will post my comment and share with you guys.

New card is out for the 2.2 updated via itunes phone. Has some minor issue, however it works.
I am guy who mentioned I will test the new card before.
Tested for 3 days now, and the issue is as below.
- Full service with no problem
- Sometimes (1 day or 3 days later) because of the network it loses signal-> No service
- When it becomes 'No Service', simply take out your sim, only put the sim card(not the sim proxy) into another gsm phone and make 1 call to someone. (this resets the sim card network setting)
- After the call successes, take out the sim and insert both sims into your iphone.
- Back with full service!!!
* It seems trouble, however I guess this is the only way we can use the 2.2 updated iphones via itunes.
** The 2 below are the pre-req. for my situation

Ok, since it worked out, did it need to do some settings with your Iphone 3G ? or just plug and play. but when have issue with “NO SERVIVE” just pull the sim card out and make a success call via. other mobile phone and its done with the issue just like you stated above ? Yes, nothing to do with the iphone settings.
Somehow, the network settings changes in the sim card once in a while. As a result, we get ‘No Service.
Using another phone to make a call resets the changed network settings on the sim card.
Then it will work again on the iphone.
However, the new sim works like this.
Let’s hope there will be a cure for this, so we can use our iphone without any issues.

I am having same problem as below, but there are no responses to it. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have restored my ipod 3 times now (once as a new ipod) but it still gets stuck. My ipod remains blank, quickpwn says sending wt.s5… but that’s it. I even left it on that step overnight to no avail. thanks

You must restore this iPod before it can be used withiTunes.’

I installed Quickpwn 2.2 on my Iphone 2G clydia and installer apps were all there and working but I could not dial out with my phone. I would go into the keypad and the numbers would not take. seconds after it would return to home screen. any ideas? email me some please

Just wondering if you guys are working on unlocking 3g iphones with 2.2 firmware installed? My girlfriend updated my damn iphone thru itunes without telling me first, so now my baseband has been upgraded and any attempts to unlock my phone have been futile. I lost all my apps and features that I loved on my phone, now I’m left with my hopes and dreams in the DevTeam to unlock my 3g.
