Jailbreak iPhone 2.2
Jailbreak | Hans | November 22, 2008 at 2:05 pmApple recently released firmware 2.2 for the iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 1st Gen, and iPod Touch 2nd Gen. The Dev Team is hard at work and they plan on releasing a jailbreak for firmware 2.2. As of right now the jailbreak iPhone 2.2 has now been released. If you’re using a jailbroken iPod Touch or iPhone then I highly recommend upgrading. It’s really worth the upgrade because of all the new features it has. There is still no copy and paste!
Here is a list of the iPhone 2.2 firmware features (taken from Apple’s website):
- Enhancements to Maps
- Google Street View*
- Public transit and walking directions
- Display address of dropped pins
- Share location via email
- Decrease in call setup failures and dropped calls
- Enhancements to Mail
- Resolved isolated issues with scheduled fetching of email
- Improved formatting of wide HTML email
- Podcasts are now available for download in iTunes application (over Wi-Fi and cellular network)
- Improved stability and performance of Safari
- Improved sound quality of Visual Voicemail messages
- Pressing Home button from any Home screen displays the first Home screen
- Preference to turn on/off auto-correction in Keyboard Settings
iPhone 2.2 FAQ
1. Can I jailbreak iPhone 2.2/iPod Touch 2.2 with QuickPWN or PwnageTool?
Not yet, the DevTeam is working hard on a jailbreak right now.
2. Can I jailbreak iPod Touch 2nd Gen on 2.2 firmware?
Unfortunately not because the iPhone is the DevTeam’s main focus right now.
3. Can I unlock the iPhone 3G 2.2 firmware?
No, so don’t upgrade to 2.2 if you want to unlock your iPhone 3G. There is no iPhone 3G 2.2 jailbreak and the DevTeam advises you not to update if you want an unlocked iPhone 3G. The DevTeam will be releasing an iPhone 3G 2.1 unlock jailbreak once it’s out.
A complete guide on how to jailbreak iPhone 2.2 will be posted here once the jailbreak is released. Subscribe to this blog to stay updated.

I tested it and bought one to use, since I was 1 of the ‘update 2.2 via itunes’ guy..^^
My 3g iphone has been an ipod for about a week, but no more !!!
Reception is great and everything works smooth!!!
* However, the 3g setting is off, and I don’t want to turn it on to check… who knows what will happen…???!!!
** About my situation for those who want to know
- 3G iphone 8gb
- Updated via itunes 2.2 a week ago
- After jail breaking the 2.2, still had baseband problem. No service!!
- Today, with the new sim the reception is full !!!
- Tested all functions and working fine !!!
# I’m not sure if someone wants me to ship from China… If you want, I could buy some and send. Let me know.
*** However, I’m not a sim seller… for the record. ^^
I just bought my iphone 3g and it came with 2.2 installed on it. I’m an ATT customer so I really don’t need the phone unlocked, just jailbroken. If I run Quickpwn (Windows), will it still Jailbreak the phone?
Who can get these chips, for 2.2 or what ever you want to call them? I am just about to go to AT&T!!!!! Ive been with Tmobile for about 6 years! Does anyone have an answer?
hey guys, i really wish you can help me with my problem, here goes:
I had 2.1 installed on my iphone but i wanted to upgrade it to the latest firmware as well as start from scratch because I downloaded some fonts that made some functions of my iphone unuseable. the mistake i did was restore the iphone to it’s factory settings thinking that I can just start from the beginning and jailbreak the iphone to 2.2
the problem now is that, when i open my iphone, the pineapple just stays there and it never goes to the home screen. also, when i conned the iphone to my computer through usb, it doesnt recognize the iphone.
can you please send me some tips or help regarding my situation at nmeoneusa@hotmail.com
ty in advance

I was not able to unluck because keeps asking me the bootlogs file locations. i have no ideia how to find them. Therefore I am with no service signal. I am using the phone with T-mobile. Could anyone help me?
I wrote the message above. I have the 8GB 2G. When I select the unlock feature on quickpwn the program asks me for the bootloader v3.9 and v4.6 locations. Can you help me?
Has anyone use the latest Quickpwng to update 1ST Gen iPhone with firmware 1.1.4 to 2.2?

It doesn’t make any sense why have service on and off…
- 3G off, Location service off
Will have to test and see more…
Hope someone finds a solution.
Before you update to 2.2, you need to jailbreak on 2.1. Once you have done this, make sure you hav iTunes 8.0.2.20 installed, update your iPhone to 2.2, then run quickown 2.2. If you get stuff at the bootlogo, plug iPhone into your computer and open iTunes, this should fix the problem, if not enter DFU mode and connect to iTunes.
vuala!
