Jailbreak iPhone 2.2
Apple recently released firmware 2.2 for the iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 1st Gen, and iPod Touch 2nd Gen. The Dev Team is hard at work and they plan on releasing a jailbreak for firmware 2.2. As of right now the jailbreak iPhone 2.2 has now been released. If you’re using a jailbroken iPod Touch or iPhone then I highly recommend upgrading. It’s really worth the upgrade because of all the new features it has. There is still no copy and paste!
Here is a list of the iPhone 2.2 firmware features (taken from Apple’s website):
- Enhancements to Maps
- Google Street View*
- Public transit and walking directions
- Display address of dropped pins
- Share location via email
- Decrease in call setup failures and dropped calls
- Enhancements to Mail
- Resolved isolated issues with scheduled fetching of email
- Improved formatting of wide HTML email
- Podcasts are now available for download in iTunes application (over Wi-Fi and cellular network)
- Improved stability and performance of Safari
- Improved sound quality of Visual Voicemail messages
- Pressing Home button from any Home screen displays the first Home screen
- Preference to turn on/off auto-correction in Keyboard Settings
iPhone 2.2 FAQ
1. Can I jailbreak iPhone 2.2/iPod Touch 2.2 with QuickPWN or PwnageTool?
Not yet, the DevTeam is working hard on a jailbreak right now.
2. Can I jailbreak iPod Touch 2nd Gen on 2.2 firmware?
Unfortunately not because the iPhone is the DevTeam’s main focus right now.
3. Can I unlock the iPhone 3G 2.2 firmware?
No, so don’t upgrade to 2.2 if you want to unlock your iPhone 3G. There is no iPhone 3G 2.2 jailbreak and the DevTeam advises you not to update if you want an unlocked iPhone 3G. The DevTeam will be releasing an iPhone 3G 2.1 unlock jailbreak once it’s out.
A complete guide on how to jailbreak iPhone 2.2 will be posted here once the jailbreak is released. Subscribe to this blog to stay updated.

I have an ipod touch with the firmware 2.2 installed. it has never been modded with jailbreak. i have tried to use the latest jailbreak (run from the desktop on my macmini). but quickpwn 2.2 fails to enter the DFU mode. also iTunes reports ‘iTunes gas detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used withiTunes.’
if i hold the power button down long enough the iTouch reboots and I can ty to enter DFU mode again

i have an iphone 3g 2.2 and it was updated days ago and i didnt heard about jailbreaking iphone 3g 2.2 until my friend told me abou this. some people on the net said its not safe or theres no tool for jailbreaking iphone 3g 2.2. I dont know where to believe but ahm can you help me please? and can i jailbreak my iphone 3g 2.2 today? or wait for dev team til they finish making tool for jailbreaking iphone 3g 2.2? please help me
i upgraded to 2.2… then downgraded to 2.1 successfully, but, im not able to get any service… if i reboot my iphone, or remove and insert my sim card, it will get signal for like 5 seconds, then drop and go back to the No Service. I have tried everything.
I read somewhere that the 2.2 upgrades the baseband, and im guessing that downgrading to 2.1, makes it uncompatible and does not work.
While i was trying to get a fix, i noticed that the jailbreak for 2.2 came out… and since i couldnf figure out how to fix the No Service in 2.1 problem, i decided to jump in and upgrade back to 2.2.
Everything upgraded successfully, BUT, im still getting the No Service msg.
What can i do to fix this?????????
Thanks in advance!
i have the same issue “no service” iphone 3g 2.2 firmware , it worked just fine 2.1
Can I jailbreak iPhone 2.2/iPod Touch 2.2 with QuickPWN or PwnageTool?
does this mean i uprgrade to 2.2 on my 1st gen iphone. the iphone will be jailbreak and unlock to any carrier?

jailbreak for 2.2 iphone is just like the last, and here is the link>>>http://www.zshare.net/download/51721230fe4b9459/
you can even update to 2.2 from itunes first
Guys, people who are getting stuck at boot loop with iphone 2G, do this.
1. Restore back to 2.1, do not jailbreak or unlock it.
2. Put your 2.1 phone into DFU mode (iphone will tell you its restore mode, but it’s actually dfu).
3. Once it’s in DFU mode, use itunes 8.0.2 and upgrade your iphone to 2.2.
4. Use QuickPwn.
I was at the boot loop 3 times too, and I realized that it was because I was jailbreaking and resyncing my 2.1 phone before the upgrade because I wanted to be able to upgrade it from a unlocked state. however, the trick is to do it straight from a cleanly restored 2.1 that is not jailbroken. Cheers.
