Jailbreak iPhone 2.2
Jailbreak | Hans | November 22, 2008 at 2:05 pmApple recently released firmware 2.2 for the iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 1st Gen, and iPod Touch 2nd Gen. The Dev Team is hard at work and they plan on releasing a jailbreak for firmware 2.2. As of right now the jailbreak iPhone 2.2 has now been released. If you’re using a jailbroken iPod Touch or iPhone then I highly recommend upgrading. It’s really worth the upgrade because of all the new features it has. There is still no copy and paste!
Here is a list of the iPhone 2.2 firmware features (taken from Apple’s website):
- Enhancements to Maps
- Google Street View*
- Public transit and walking directions
- Display address of dropped pins
- Share location via email
- Decrease in call setup failures and dropped calls
- Enhancements to Mail
- Resolved isolated issues with scheduled fetching of email
- Improved formatting of wide HTML email
- Podcasts are now available for download in iTunes application (over Wi-Fi and cellular network)
- Improved stability and performance of Safari
- Improved sound quality of Visual Voicemail messages
- Pressing Home button from any Home screen displays the first Home screen
- Preference to turn on/off auto-correction in Keyboard Settings
iPhone 2.2 FAQ
1. Can I jailbreak iPhone 2.2/iPod Touch 2.2 with QuickPWN or PwnageTool?
Not yet, the DevTeam is working hard on a jailbreak right now.
2. Can I jailbreak iPod Touch 2nd Gen on 2.2 firmware?
Unfortunately not because the iPhone is the DevTeam’s main focus right now.
3. Can I unlock the iPhone 3G 2.2 firmware?
No, so don’t upgrade to 2.2 if you want to unlock your iPhone 3G. There is no iPhone 3G 2.2 jailbreak and the DevTeam advises you not to update if you want an unlocked iPhone 3G. The DevTeam will be releasing an iPhone 3G 2.1 unlock jailbreak once it’s out.
A complete guide on how to jailbreak iPhone 2.2 will be posted here once the jailbreak is released. Subscribe to this blog to stay updated.

Same problem here. I restored my iphone 3g and tried it again: same result. How can I jailbreak my phone? What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance
I was trying to update my iphone from 1.4 to 2.2. I got an error message and now my iphone can not be discovered by itunes in order to repeat its restore.the reset did not work many times , when I turn it on the white cable sign appears and that is it. ANy help is appreciated.
iTunes says that there is a new iPhone firmware update: 2.2.1
If you backed up you phone with the 2.2, just restore back to that and try Jailbreak again. I’ll bet Devteam is working on it as I type!
ok i wrote yesterday and last night as well….. i can’t restore to a previous software version dispite downloading 2.2 online or can someone please send me their 2.2 back up. it would really help. my e-mail is jookey2001@hotmail.com.
i know how to restore to a previous point = shift+ click on restore and select my restore point but obviously if i haven’t backed up i can’t go as far as those steps lol.
help help and help, Dev team i’m counting on you and i reckon i phones should be made available to all networks unlocked, sure apple would make a clean fortune if it were open to all
If I want to unjailbreak my iPod Touch, would the warranty come back? Also, should I jailbreak my 2.2 iPod Touch?

Jailbreaking voids your warranty.
Hello, I’m having the same issue as most people with the white apple screen and not being able to boot my phone after using QuickPwn 2.25. I am wondering how to restore my phone so that I can actually use it? I tried connecting to ITunes with no luck “I have my phone locked with a passcode that needs to be entered” But I cannot enter the passcode because my phone won’t boot! Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

Hi! I want to know if i can update my iphone to the 2.2 version and after that jailbreak it and use my sim card with a turbo sim to unlock it?
If you’re not using an iPhone 3G then you can go ahead and upgrade to 2.2.1 and jailbreak/unlock it. If you are using an iPhone 3G then follow my instructions here.
no matter what i did including redownloading, restarting, updating framework, i could not start quickpwn, on 2 different computers!
always get a message saying that quickpwn has encountered a problem and needs to close.
You need to download .NET Framework for it to work, download it here.
