If after the jailbreak you can't make dial calls because the phone dialer freezes and goes back to the main menu, try this:
1- Uninstall Kate from Installer: this is what everyone recommends, seems to work for a lot of people but didn't work for me.
2- Then go to Installer again and uninstall these apps:
A) Mobile enhancer
B) RIP DEV preferences
3- Reboot your iPhone.
That's what I did and got my dial pad back again.

hey my problem is that apparently quicpwn does not support the firmware or something like that
OK SO I FOUND A FIX for the hang at “wait for the iphone to connect in I was fortunate enough to be able to ask BigBoss and he advised to use a new computer. I tried and it worked PERFECTLY. What I did was install iTunes then connect the phone. I told it not to sync or backup or anything. I put it in DFU mode (with phone connected, press and hold the Power button and the Home button at the same time for 10 sec. then release Power but continue to hold Home). Then iTunes should ask to set up as a new phone but DON’T. I followed “”Anonymous Says : January 3, 2009 4:56 PM”" advise and pwned from a “new” phone (THANKS!!) You have to close out of iTunes then install Quickpwn. Run Quickpwn WITHOUT iTunes. I used the firmware in the official Apple folder to pwn. It worked AWESOME! BTW/FYI I have a 2G iPhone that was 2.1 and jailbroke before the 2.2 jump and I used Windows XP. If you have any questions and have already read the blog, I can TRY and field them. I’m trying to jail break my Iphone 3G on a MAC, however doesn’t seem to be working – I wathced a video on U-Tube on how to do this and everything is the same except when the quickpwn has created the software and it states “sending …..dmg to iphone” my iphone reboots and has a white screen – although in the video – his reboots and has the apple symbol! – I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong – but I’ve followed the video all the way through and it still doesn’t wanna jail break my phone!. Its an Iphone 3G with version 2.2 firmware and hasn’t been jail broke before! I have restored the phone so there isn’t nothing on it and tried jail breaking – and this still hasn’t worked!

My phone funtion was also not available, but when i deleted the phone enhancer the issue was solved.

for the waiting to connect problem with 10.5.6 you can also just use a usb hub between your computer and your phone if you have one laying around…this worked for me
If you have an iPhone 1G and you ran 2.2 update and you can’t get on T-Mobile Edge, you gotta use an old school 2.0 Custom Restore from the Pwnage Tool (not quickpawn). Restoring via iTunes with that file (opion + Restore Button) flashes the baseband and erases whatever error QuickPwn 2.2. introduced. From there you can then restore to a 2.1 OS file, and THEN run QuickPwn 1.1 which will get your iPhone back to the 2.1 OS AND you will be able to make calls, text and get on the internet through edge.
Phew! I guess it was a little to early to jump on this (2.2). Good luck iPhoneDev Team though. I’m looking forward to a working 2.2 for 1G iPhones. PEACE!

i have a black early 2008 macbook version 10.5.6 and an iphone 3g version 2.2. I downloaded the quickpwn 2.2 for my mac and ran into the problem that a lot of people were having with their new macbooks of it getting stuck at the “Quickpwn is about to to run on your iPhone 3G”. I did as a previous post stated and used a usb hub and it worked, but now I am stuck in the DFU mode with my iphone staying stuck with a white screen and turning off after about 10 mins. Upon turning it back on it is as if I did nothing at all. It’s weird because quickpwn shows that it is downloading all of the files into my iphone and the ihaz sucess pops up and everything.

hi guys i just jail broke my iphone… it was doing good untill i downloaded winterboard .. then suddenly it asked me to connect to itunes… when i did tht itunes deactivated my phone .. so i got no reception.. when i try to reconnect it send a messg saying the iphone could not be activated because the activation information was invalid pls try again later
3G iPhone running firmware v2.2
tried this with my late 08 iMac running iTunes 8.0.2 and kept getting stuck at ‘Quickpwn is about to to run on your iPhone 3G’.
plugged into my 2004 iBook and worked like magic the first time. (also running iTunes 8.0.2)
installer works, cydia works, no phone issues as of yet.
I have a iPod touch with 2.2. When I try to jailbreak after choosing the type device i get an error “We cant find iPod touch firmware! Please buy this from iTunes and restart QuickPwn”.
But I am running 2.2. I just bought the touch from one of my friends. The upgrade to 2.2 was done by him using his iTunes and not mine – if it can help.

I have a iPod touch with firmware 2.2 that I want to jailbreak.
When I try to use QuickPwn on my device an error pops up saying “Cannot find the iPod touch firmware bundle! Please buy this from iTunes and restart QuickPwn.”. But my touch is running firmware 2.2. Do you know why I get this error?
I thought that it might be because the 2.2 firmware was installed by my friend using his iTunes and not mine. Maby it is beacuse firmware 2.2 was never bought through my iTunes? Do you think that too? If yes, do you know how I can get to install firmware 2.2 on my device using my iTunes. In i Tunes it just says that the software on the touch is up to date, and I cant get to install 2.2 on it using my iTunes.
