A FIX FOR THE LATE 2008 SILVER MACBOOK’S.

Grab a USB hub from your sisters bedroom. Then follow the steps as usual. The DFU mode block seems to only affect the MACBOOK ports only.

i downloaded quickpwn 2.2 for mac, and installed it
it won’t recognize my 2nd generation ipod touch for some reason. whats up?

    Here’s what worked for me – 1st Gen iPhone v2.2 [NOT 3G] – older MBPro at v10.5.5:

First, i backed up my phone image. Attempted QuickPwn and got stuck in the reboot loop where the phone shows only the apple. During the process, itunes opened up and complained that it couldn’t recognize my phone. i acknowledged the alert and immediately shut down itunes. At this point, I have a reboot-looping iphone.

to fix this, i went into DFU mode while attached to itunes and restored the factory v2.2 firmware. when prompted, i selected my backup image copy to put back all my data. At this point, i now have the vanilla iphone [basic apps, but NO appstore apps] but with my mail, sms, etc intact.

QuickPwn again, but this time i did not shut down itunes after acknowledging it’s complaint. Leaving it open while QuickPwn worked it’s magic, my iphone was successfully jailbroken.

I hope this saves at least one person a little bit of time and effort when things go awry.

Guys! for those who had stuck in the “Quickpwn is about to to run on your iPhone ” stage:

All you have to do is connect your iphone 3G through a USB hub and it shall work!

    Happy jailbreaking!

Any other solutions for no signal after upgrading to 2.2 firmware? I was able to unlock the phone but with my ATT (non-iphone) sim card I get no signal.

I had problems during the jailbreaking process. It seemed it was almost done jailbreaking, the message “Quickpwn is about to to run on your iPhone 3G.” was shown. Suddenly my iphone 3G 2.2 switched off and never switched on again.

If after the jailbreak you can't make dial calls because the phone dialer freezes and goes back to the main menu, try this:

1- Uninstall Kate from Installer: this is what everyone recommends, seems to work for a lot of people but didn't work for me.

2- Then go to Installer again and uninstall these apps:

    A) Mobile enhancer
    B) RIP DEV preferences

    3- Reboot your iPhone.

That's what I did and got my dial pad back again.

Hope this helps someone, I spent like three hours searching for a solution…

After HOURS of fiddling around _ I found a FIX to get your IPHONE 3G 16GB edition and probably others Jailbroken – Here’s what I did:

I had a shitload of apps I bought from the Appstore and tons of contacts. I was attempting to Jailbreak my iPhone with QuickPwn and a download of the 2.2 firmware – My result, a fricken’ pineapple and my phone that would vibrate – Was it a brick? Well for two hours it was…

    Here’s how I resolved the issue -

Take your Iphone – Open up Itunes (latest version works fine) – Plug your Iphone into your computer – Perform the process of entering your Iphone into Backup/Recovery (DTU) mode – Holding power + home for 10 sec, home button 10 sec, etc-

Once your Iphone is in DTU mode and Itunes recognizes that – Restore your Iphone as a “NEW Phone” – Do a complete blank install like your phone was a brick – DO NOT RESTORE ANYTHING FROM BACKUPS – SETUP the PHone as a NEW PHONE –

Once Itunes flashes the 2.2 Firmware to your phone and you get a globe on your phone that says “Activated” – You are ready to start the Jailbreak process -

That process means you can close Itunes and start QuickPwn and go through it’s process of getting into DTU mode and having the software flash your device with it’s modified firmware-

Long story short, DO NOT try to jailbreak your Iphone unless you have a FRESH Firmware install on your iphone with Absolutely no settings on than factory – Don’t add contacts, don’t add your music, don’t do any of that shit until after you start the Jailbreak process..

Good luck and hope this saves you many hours – My shit works and after I jailbroke my phone, I was able to recover all my purchased applications and music from Itunes with no problem, in addition to being able to download all the shit that isn’t available on the APpstore

to everyone freaking out… if you do everything right , your not gonna have a problem

if you dont understand how to do everything , jailbreaking isnt for you.

i just jailbroke my ipod with zero problems. so i can testify that its working 100%

the only reason i can attribute to people having problems is one of these things

    1) u dont understand how to do the things nessicary for jailbreaking
    2) ur using OS X 10.5.6 ( and didnt edit the files properly)

if you have the first problem , stop trying before you break ur iphone, otherwise , happy jailbreaking
