For those who want to upgrade to Firmware 2.2 without jailbreaking their iPhone or iPod Touch, I’ve posted the download links here.
- iPhone firmware 2.2 download (246 MB)
- iPhone 3G firmware 2.2 download (Caution if you upgrade to iPhone 3G 2.2 you won’t be able to unlock your iPhone 3G)

Remember to update to firmware 2.2 all you need to do is:
1. Launch iTunes
2. Click update and choose your firmware 2.2 IPSW file
3. iTunes will take care of the rest! :)
If you want to restore to firmware 2.2 or another firmware all you need to do is:
1. Launch iTunes
2. Shift-click Restore for Windows users and option-click restore for Mac users
3. Choose your .IPSW file that you want to restore to
4. iTunes will do the rest!

I have a question. I have the iPod Touch 2G and I have firmware 2.2.1. I want to downgrade to 2.2. I have the firmware and I put the iPod into DFU mode. I pressed Shift+Restore in iTunes and selected my firmware. The problem is, I got this error message:
The iPod “iPod” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1).
What should I do?
I’ve a problem with the last version of quickpwn when I execute it, a message said: ” error …(0xc0000135)”.

whenever i try to jailbreak my itouch 2nd gen i always get up to the part that requires the create restore file and the file never appears….HELP PLZ
i have an ipod touch 1G and i want to download the firmware 2.2, not 2.2.1 because my ipod has 2.2 and if i try to jailbreak with the 2.2.1 it says that its the wrong firmware. What do i do?
If u are on firmware 2.2, u cannot jailbreak straight to 2.2.1. u have to download quickpawn2.2, there is the link http://www.zshare.net/download/517212…

If i download the 2.2 will it change the baseband to 2.28.00 beacuse i have 2.1 i cant unlock it with that baseband

if you getting error in ipod even you connected iphone 3g simply dissconect and reconnet it its normal then you will get iphone 3g in itunes back,

Hi…. i have the G2 ipodtouch and with 2.2.1 firmware, i got lots of problem with the games with this firmware.. so, i download v2.2 from this site to downgrade my firmware to 2.2, when everything is done, i cannot connect anymore to wifi even i already configured it already. what do you want me to do to be able to use again my wifi. it can detect my wifi access and the check is ok.. but there is no antenna or wave sign on the upper left most besides ipod name. even its say its connected. can anyone help me on this. i tried to update my firmware again to 2.2.1 coz i thought maybe its because of the v2.2 firmware but its still the same… help plz. thanx
what does it mean when it says “firmware error string”?
It means you didn’t download the correct firmware or you are using iPod Touch 2G firmware which is unsupported.
you should just wait till yellowsnow can unlock 2.2.1 if not just buy a damn turbosim its the same shit
My ipod touch screen will not pick up on my computer. it say apple camera. The only thing showing on the ipod screen is a picture of the itunes icon and an arrow pointing to the usb cord.
Hold down the square home button and the standby button until your iPod Touch turrns off. Then turn it back on by pressing the standby button.
