iTunes App Store Apps

Written By Hans Berger on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 | 4:45 AM

app store apps, free app store apps, paid app store apps, free apps, iphone apps

I've downloaded a lot of free apps and paid apps from the iTunes app store, and I have 9 pages of apps on my iPod Touch! There are too many apps in the app store and I think a website with app store apps reviews would really help out the iPhone & iPod Touch community. Would anyone here be interested in an App Store Reviews website? Think of a website that grabs the latest iPhone app download link, image, and information from the app store. Except the reviews would all be moderated and not fake reviews made by the actual developers. You will get to rate all the apps and help people find excellent app store apps. If this generates enough interest then I will create a website like this (with a lot more features that I have not pointed out here right now). Please leave a comment and let me know your views on this.

Might be helpful since you have to go to itunes or app store on phone to read details and reviews. Would also be nice to show alternatives to paid ones that do the same thing.

There are about 4-5 BIG websites that are doing such a thing right now... From the top of my head... AppVee dot com, 148apps dot com and many more. Too late buddy

@JDub: Thanks for your suggestions. This review site will have a mobile version too and allow you to filter your searches for whatever app store app you are looking to purchase. For example, if you are looking for a racing game you could search it up and filter the results by paid or free apps.

@Sebastien: Your URL is already posted in your username, why post it again in the comments? :)

@QuickPWN about Sebastien: I believe he was trying to post links to the review sites.

And about that. I don't think that would work for two reasons.

1. As previously mentioned, many already exist.
2. Just as there are many apps, there are many updated versions of said apps. Sometimes multiple times a week. Would you cover EACH version and re-review each after they were updated?

Sometimes the updates include drastic fixes, changes and even sometimes function reductions or obtrusive ads. Will you keep updating and changing your reviews?

If you can do it, I say go for it. If you can't do that then don't bother.

@wtfehdaher: Thanks for your support!

@Anonymous: That's true that many exist, but how many are quality ones that have reviews on alls sorts of apps and a good moderated rating system? This website won't be just like any other rating website that is already on the web. It will be a BIG website sort of like Digg. It's not going to be a big deal keeping the changes up-to-date, that can be automated.

Sorry, but Arn (MacRumors Creator) has already made a site that does that. He is working on many new feature that will be available soon, such as reviews and a rating system.

Visit AppShopper . com to see what he has done so far.

@woodj: Thanks for pointing that out, I actually noticed arn's website before too. His website doesn't allow the reviews/ratings feature yet and I'm sure I can launch a website with App Reviews and a rating system that is better than what AppShopper offers. Just because there's already one out there doesn't mean there can't be any more. I love competition! :)

i say go for it, i hate going into the appstore just to see what's new, a digg type of rating would be great, as well as tagging system so you can get a hold of a certain app even if you don't know it's name

OK, lets see if THIS comment gets deleted.

I think Sebastien meant links to the websites that already do it.

And no you shouldn't do the review thing since the software is updated so frequently and drastically unless you will renew your reviews just as often.

Besides many other sites already exist.

Is there a way to handle hundreds of apps on an iPod Touch 2G? I.e., without jailbreaking? Mine already has way more apps than it can show in the 9 screens. What do I do??
