Many iPhone users have recently reported an issue in the iPhone that makes the mail app crash when Gmail is being used. This also happens with any app that requests Gmail information like contacts. An iPhone user at the Apple Discussions board, rowanpettet reports the following problem:
“I did a fresh restore, and synchronized mail, calendar and contacts to our Exchange Server with no problems whatsoever. But as soon as I added my Google Apps IMAP account, my Contacts started to crash if I scrolled to the bottom of the list or tried to search.”
Want to fix this problem? Here are some possible solutions to stop Gmail from crashing your iPhone.
- Try Resetting your network settings. Go to Settings -> General, and tap Reset Network Settings
- Restore your iPhone through iTunes
- Access your Gmail account on your PC and change your password. Once you’ve done that delete your Gmail account and re-add it to the iPhone and enter in your new password.
