Jailbreak iPhone 2.1
Do you want to Jailbreak iPhone 2.1? Well, now you can! Unfortunately it’s not an easy process as it was with the iPod Touch which was completely GUI based. You will need to carefully follow the below instructions to jailbreak your iPhone 2.1. This tutorial also works for the iPhone 3G.
You must install iTunes 8 first, so if you don’t have iTunes 8 download or update to it right now.
If you’re using an iPhone, you must download iPhone 2.1 firmware using the below link:

If you’re using an iPhone 3G, download iPhone 3G 2.1 firmware using the below link:

1. Open iTunes 8, and update to iPhone firmware 2.1.
2. After you’re upgraded to firmware 2.1, uninstall iTunes 8.0, and install iTunes 7.7.* from the download link here:

3. Click –> Download the jailbreak from the downloads page <–, or use any of these mirrors if this link doesn’t work:
4. Run the .exe file and browse and select your iPhone 2.1 firmware.
5. Follow the on-screen steps, choose Installer and Cydia.
6. Once finished, your iPhone will reboot, but Installer and Cydia won’t be visible.
7. Reboot your iPhone, and Installer & Cydia should show up!

For all those who had troubles, like blank screen for long times, several rebooting in few minutes, i have done the steps perfectly in the described way, simply didnt work for me, i have iphone 3g upgraded to 2.1, the solution i found after 5 hours of trying, GO AND DOWNLOAD QUICKPWN 2.1, IT WORKS WITHOUT MUCH HASSEL, U DONT NEED TO DO STUPID STUFF LIKE UNINSTALLING ITUNES 8.0, ITS ALL GUI BASED PROCESS NEET AND EASY.
somehow when I click on GO with the QuickPwn and the DOS Box appears after a few moments the programm terminates and I get an error message from Microsoft wanting to send a message … any help? Thanks.

You can reset your iPhone by connecting it to the computer and starting up iTunes 8.0. There you have a button that says “recover” or “reset” (in German “Wiederherstellen”) which will reinstall the software (and also the folder) to your iPhone. Then you can start all over again and this time inly delete the file.
ok, so i’ve done this a millions times… everyone i kno w/ an iphone has come to me and i’ve hooked them up… but today on my OWN iphone, i upgraded to 2.1, jailbroke it, and then something didn’t seem right…. then i realized, I FORGOT TO UPGRADE TO ITUNES 8…. now, i’m not a hacker, but i do know some shyt about technology….. but….. can anyone tell me what side effects MAY occur since i upgraded to 2.1 w/ itunes 7??? or should i do it over again w/ itunes 8???? thanx!!!

Yeah… I fucked up my phone, I had my phone jailbroken on 2.1… updated to 2.2 through itunes… rejailbroke.. now everything that I had in my “categories” is gone… so cydia, installer, settings, camera, youtube, (you get the idea) are still in the “categories” but.. not on the springboard… i deleted the plst file.. and re jailbroke… nothing can someone please help me

I am lost in step 9. “When the DiskAid screen launches, you’ll see a drop-down box on the bottom left that says “Media Folder”.
DiskAid doesn’t get contact with the iPhone – nothing in the drop down list???

12. On the right side, scroll down and click on the MobileInstallation.framework folder.
READ HERE BEFORE MODDING THIS PHONE… DONT CLICK ON THE RIGHT SIDE… FIND MobileInstallation.framework ON THE LEFT SIDE, CLICK IT, AND YOU WILL SEE THE FILE YOU NEED TO DELETE, DO NOT DELETE THE FRAMEWORK FOLDER!!!

keep your power and home button down for 10 second or so.. and wait until it start.. keep pushing home button until you end up in screen where is itunes and usb cord logo. then open itunes and restore your firmware
never try it, but hey might work lol
..AND DONT TRY JAILBREAK IF YOU NOT WILLING TO RISK YOUR IPHONE GET USELESS

dont try jailbreak if you not even get program open. and yes its not even work so great. later you will ask how you get old firmware back
