I hav etried to get this done now about 10 times so am asking for some sort of guidance. Everything works fine apart from it isn’t unlocked. The installer and cydia install fine and show up in the menu, the logo can be changed fine too, no problem there. If I try to unlock it it looks asthough its working, screen comes up the unlock bit clides across But when i put my sim in it says i need to put an unlocked sim into it. If I try to unlock it again it says settings are fine but still cant use my vodafone uk simcard. It is starting to really do my head in! any help would be greatly received.

    Cheers

If you are having the apple logo stuck on reboot problem, after installing SSH, do the following :

    1) SSH into your iPhone/iPod Touch, navigate to the folder: “/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileInstallation.framework”

    2) Backup the file “MobileInstallation”, just rename it to “MobileInstallation.bak” or copy it to your computer

    3) Copy the patched file (In the Crack folder) to “/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileInstallation.framework”

    4) Set the permissions of the file to 775
NOTE: CHECK AGAIN THAT ITS 775 NOT 755
NOTE: CHECK AGAIN THAT ITS 775 NOT 777

    5) Navigate to “/private/var/mobile/”

    6) Set permissions to the folder “Applications” to 777
NOTE: Make sure reclusive is checked (meaning it sets all files within the folder to 777)

    7) Navigate into the “/private/var/mobile/applications/” folder

    8) Create a “Documents” folder in the “/private/var/mobile/applications/” folder

    9) Set the permission to 777

    10) Navigate to the root level

    11) Navigate into the “/Applications/” folder

    12) Create a “Documents” folder in the “/Applications/” folder

    13) Set permissions to 777

    14) Reboot iPhone/iPod Touch

    15) Now download one free official app from the appstore

    This works!

running osx. 10.4.11, itunes 8 and iphone 3G firmware 2.2

I have a iphone 1st gen running 1.1.3 with T mobile in US for the longest time (using Ziphone) and decided to “upgrade” to 2.2 with quickpwn on Mac.

Software on iphone was upgraded and even sync up with my itunes. BUT I could never get it to work as a phone with my Tmobile sim anymore !!! I could not even downgrade the firmware to the 1.1.3 and when i tried to do so – it gives me an error message to say restore cannot be done.

Now I have a IPOD instead of a phone. I am stuck – want to reverse the whole process but it won’t allow. No matter what I tried. I just could not reinstall the older firmware anymore !

For those who are still planning to try – I guess if you are on official carrier – you should be fine. Else you might want to wait for a more detailed instruction and confirmed success.

appreciate if anyone can tell me what I did wrong. I half suspect that I should not have restored to 2.2 via itunes directly – since there was some warning on Cydia not to do that (read it on iphone AFTER the fact).

So I wonder now what should I do next (to unlock) so that I can use my iphone with Tmobile. Any success stories – pls share ! I will do anything to revive my phone. I already have an ipod touch :(

    I have iPod Touch 2Gen 2.2 firmware
yes new ipod with internal speakers and volume control

i did jailbreak it (NOT used quickpwn) used my own method.
but now after surfing with safari for longer perioid ipod restart.
and when playing games. game could sometimes stop working and return me main menu!!

is this ipod touch problem or my jailbreak failed?

i can intall cracked apps with itunes so thats good :)
