iPhone 2.2 firmware released
Today the beta iPhone 2.2 firmware has been released to developers. According to Macrumors the new version is labeled as iPhone OS 2.2 beta 1 and also has a beta iPhone SDK build 9M2611. iPhone Developers are not allowed to leak the new features to other people but one of the developers has leaked one of the new features. The Safari interface has been tweaked around a bit. The new version of Safari has a magnifying glass and refresh buttons at the top of the screen. A refresh icon has also been added in the URL bar. See the screenshot of the new Safari below. It will be some time until iPhone firmware 2.2 download is released to the public. I am pretty sure that the iPhone 2.2 jailbreak will come out very quickly as well! The iPod Touch 2G is not jailbreakable at the moment, the Dev Team is working on it. Hopefully they come out with a solution for it soon.

Just to update everyone, iphone 2.2 that had been jailbroken before but not with quickpwn is working fine, very straightforward. Updated it to 2.2 through itunes. Ran quickpwn 2.2, followed the instructions and it was easy.
Finally my iphone is back in action and jailbroken once more! Thanks guys and keep up the good work!
I tried to upgrade to firmware 2.2 on my 2g unlocked and jailbroken phone. Now I only make and receive calls but all I get is the emergency call options and the itunes with the usb call sign. I have tried to downgrade back to 2.1 but without any success. I was told that the upgrade also upgraded the baseband and in order to downgrade back to 2.1 you will have to downgrade the baseband also. I heard about trying it with ziphone but that also does not work. Any suggestions guys???
Its never going to happen no one will EVER jailbreak the ipod touch 2g so just give up. There is no one smart out there able to do it so I sadly lost hope…………….
They jailbroken the first iphone from scratch… if they could get some info on the hardware the ipod touch 2g… they could jailbreak it…

Quickpwn 2.2 DOES not work any better than 2.1; In both cases I get to the point where it says “waiting for iphone to connect in recovery mode”. In both cases nothing else happens. I am surprised that the developers did NOT fix this problem when upgrading quickpwn to address the 2.2 software update. Apparently lots of people have this problem but nobody can provide a solution that WORKS. I tried almost every suggestion that there is but nothing works. “WILL THE PROGRAM DEVELOPERS ACTUALLY LOOK AT THIS ISSUE OR CONTINUE TO IGNORE IT”!!!!!!!!!!!!
