iPhone 2.2 firmware released
iPhone | Hans | September 25, 2008 at 7:43 pmToday the beta iPhone 2.2 firmware has been released to developers. According to Macrumors the new version is labeled as iPhone OS 2.2 beta 1 and also has a beta iPhone SDK build 9M2611. iPhone Developers are not allowed to leak the new features to other people but one of the developers has leaked one of the new features. The Safari interface has been tweaked around a bit. The new version of Safari has a magnifying glass and refresh buttons at the top of the screen. A refresh icon has also been added in the URL bar. See the screenshot of the new Safari below. It will be some time until iPhone firmware 2.2 download is released to the public. I am pretty sure that the iPhone 2.2 jailbreak will come out very quickly as well! The iPod Touch 2G is not jailbreakable at the moment, the Dev Team is working on it. Hopefully they come out with a solution for it soon.

Guys, just be patient, you can’t expect this because you wanted. People do the favor to make it possible (jailbreak). If it was easy deal, it will be available right now. Common, DevTeam have their life, just wait! It will come out when it’s time
after i install the 2.1 i get the 1013 error and i cant do anything. i just close i tunes with the iphone in recoverymode, and open quickpwn and boot it that way?

Are you kidding? It was released not even a day ago! Do you really think they can do it that fast?
I have no doubt they’ll be able to do it, but I’d give them at least four or five days at minimum. To be realistic, probably more like a week or two.
But they ARE awesome, so who knows what they’ll pull off.
I Love You Guys!
…..Need The 2.2 JailBreak Fast!

Aeon
Aeon – goob :) but interesting. . .
to the jailbreaking team – I thank you for what you’ve done it’s a GREAT thing and a skill that I wouldn’t have thought anyone would or could do.
I applaud you wholeheartedly and I am anxiously awaiting 2.2 when you do get it up I will be here to download it, I speak for me personally when I say THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS gift of doing this for us.

I tried the downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1 and it won’t allow me to downgrade for some reason. After my attempt where I followed the instructions exactly – all I get is an picture of a usb and the itunes logo on my iphone screen and when I launch itunes, I am told that the phone has to be recovered using the latest version. It appears my phone is now stuck with version 2.2
My phone is open line but I am pissed off at apple that I do not have full control over my phone.
you guys are idiots. this is not the dev team’s site. it is blog.iphone-dev.org not this site. also, stop bitching about the pwned update. these guys have lifes and are nice enough to pwn the updates for free so the community can benefit from it so stop being ungrateful whiny assholes. and to the guy asking about 2.3, stfu!!

Personally your assault isn’t directed towards everyone, I’ve been nothing but nice to them and have thanked them. As for their site now that I have it I will thank them their too.
There’s no reason to be rude to people who are impatient I’m impatient but I don’t bother telling everyone the same thing that everyone else has said, instead I offer more constructive criticism and allow the banter to continue, this is how you eventually make friends online. Even if you don’t want them.

Upgraded your iPhone 2G to 2.2 and can’t downgrade back to 2.1?
So long as you have the Original Sim that came with your iPhone or a Valid Sim then give this a bash!
1. Insert the orginal Sim that came with your iPhone
2. Launch iTunes and Activate your iPhone if you have not already done so.
3. Hold down Shift and click on Restore browse for the 2.1 IPSW
4. As the Restore commences quickly swop your Sims to the Sim you wish to use in the device
5. Once Restore has completed, run QuickPwn 2.1 and Jailbreak / Unlock your phone
It appears your Sim is checked an validated upon restore or during the restore process.
However you are unable to Restore if you have an invalid Sim in you iPhone at first.
You should be running 2.1 on your iPhone 2G.
NOTE: Unfortunately you will not be able to restore your last backup as the file system of 2.1 is different to that of 2.2
You can always restore your iPhone no matter you did with it. Just boot it in recovery mode (hold Home button while powering on until itunes symbol with usb cable appears). Then fire up iTunes and click Restore WHILE HOLDING SHIFT. Select 2.1 firmware. After restore, you will be able to jailbreak it and so on.
not if iTunes throws you an invalid Sim! The process above will work in the case where iTunes indicates you are using an invalid Sim after you have upgraded.
Note: Im using a UK phone on a South African network.
I am using Polish network on US iphone and have this problem too ;[
The above process worked for me. Back to running 2.1.
which one worked? i have tried all of them except the last 2….with the sim card and the button combination…pls help!!!
