iPhone 2.2 firmware released
Today the beta iPhone 2.2 firmware has been released to developers. According to Macrumors the new version is labeled as iPhone OS 2.2 beta 1 and also has a beta iPhone SDK build 9M2611. iPhone Developers are not allowed to leak the new features to other people but one of the developers has leaked one of the new features. The Safari interface has been tweaked around a bit. The new version of Safari has a magnifying glass and refresh buttons at the top of the screen. A refresh icon has also been added in the URL bar. See the screenshot of the new Safari below. It will be some time until iPhone firmware 2.2 download is released to the public. I am pretty sure that the iPhone 2.2 jailbreak will come out very quickly as well! The iPod Touch 2G is not jailbreakable at the moment, the Dev Team is working on it. Hopefully they come out with a solution for it soon.

Я тоже надеюсь, что это бует в этом месяце! =)))
Is a jailbreak the only way for an iPod touch 2G to manage more than a few hundred apps on the unit itself? (I need folders or categories and searching/sorting.)
This is what the developers of QuickPWN said..
iPod Touch 2G
We are not working on the iPod Touch 2G right now, we certainly have interest in this platform as we have mentioned before and we have done some preliminary analysis, but currently all eyes are still on the iPhone 3G, we hope to pick up work on the iPod Touch 2G sometime in the near future and when we have any updates relating to this we’ll blog about them here.
Fucking iPhones..
I understand that if the iPod Touch 2G were jailbroken it could handle lots of apps (and I look forward to that day) — but is there an existing way WITHOUT jailbreaking it to handle hundreds of apps on it? Like an app-manager app that lets you list, sort, get info on, and/or categorize the hundreds of apps you’ve downloaded from iTunes?

I was wondering when the 2.2 would be available for jailbreaking. I updated mine by accident and didn’t realize it was doing my phone to until it was too late and I lost everything . . . I love my iPhone jailbroken, none jailbroken it stinks.
So if we could have some idea of when this might happen I would really appreciate as would everyone else I’m sure.
Thanks.
TMC
Me too I updated to 2.2 and all my jalibroken apps are gone. I have a backup though but I want my iphone to be jailbroken again!

ROFLCOPTERS.
Noob Saibot strikes again.
I can’t believe how many people just update via iTunes and forget the moderately difficult process they’re undoing so fast.

If you use Categories to manage your apps, or utilities, REMOVE APPS FROM FOLDERS BEFORE YOU UPDATE.
Reversal of the QuickPwn process during the update will remove any non-authorized apps from the device. This will affect apps associated with Categories by removing their icons from the screen.
Effectively removing access to any apps that had been added to the folders.
This happened to me, simply because I did not stop to prepare the device before I updated. I now can not access Settings, Games, and a decent amount of other apps.
Just want to make sure that yall are informed, so as to not make the same mistake as me.
Would love to jailbreak my iPod touch 2G, but if that’s not possible, is there any OTHER way to manage hundreds of apps downloaded from the app store? Need to handle far more than 144 apps, and also to be able to:
o Organize them into categories
o Sort them
o Get info on any of them (size, version, description)
o Perhaps to search them
o Perhaps even rename an app (for those apps whose names aren’t memorable or even descriptive of their functions)
